The 787-900 can operate at BRS but would like either be capacity limited or have to tech stop for fuel. SFB may be in reach (just), but given the 787-800 struggled to CUN, I can't see it happening as it would be pointless continually swapping the aircraft around rather than basing one for however many days.

I'd have thought the 787 9s will stick to MAN and LGW freeing up more 787 8s for new routes and extra frequencies across their whole network.

They have 1 more -900 due this year (G-TUIM) and 2 more on order after that. Moving the 1 -800 to BRU is just standard shifting through the group. As far as i'm aware the latest 787 order was always a group order (Not the original FCA 787 order). The L/H fleet is widely shared as the group Airlines are streamlined for a better operational setup. There's no reason why this aircraft won't be used in the UK if it's needed. Capacity wise for now it's just the difference between a -800 capacity increasing to a -900 capacity.

It'll be down to 8 788 and eventually theyll have 6 789s

As has been said, it's just one of the nine TUI UK 788s that's transferred to TUI Belgium at the moment. There was some loose talk on a well-known forum recently that seemed to suggest TUI was getting rid of all its 788s which clearly is not the case.

According to a TUI press release the focus will on BHX, CWL, DSA, EMA, GLA and MAN.

The first thing to look out for is whether there will still be two 757s in summer 2019 given that TUI will have started disposing of the remaining units of the type by then as we discussed in this thread a few weeks ago.

If summer 2019 turns out to be one 757 and three 738s or no 757s and four 738s that will be a significant drop in capacity as the 737 MAX10s aren't likely to feature at BRS so soon one would think.

Perhaps Salonika will return in summer 2019. It seems to come and go quite regularly.

Travel Weekly reporting "new flights to Cancun from Bristol and Manchester" which is strange. Perhaps they mean frequency increases as Glasgow and Newcastle are reported to be getting additional flights to Cancun directly after Manchester and Bristol are mentioned and it could just be a case of sloppy grammar?

Because it looks like the airports mentioned are all getting extra based aircraft.

Bristol Airport has just posted on its News page about Tui UK 2019, with new routes to Marrakech and Halkidiki, Marrakech will mean it becomes year round as commences in Winter 18/19, Halkidiki returns as this route tends to come and go.

Additional frequencies on flights to Antalya, Kefalonia. Cancun goes twice weekly, plus an extra cruise flight to Naples.

So Salonika (Halkidiki) is back for summer 2019.

Cancun 2 x weekly is interesting given that when winds are a bit adverse the route seems to be on the extreme edge of the 787-8 range from BRS. TUI is presumably satisfied that it can live with the odd outbound fuel stop as happened two or three times last summer because of adverse winds. There was/were one or two other occasion/s when outbound stop/s was/were made for crewing reasons.

The TUI spokesman says, “We’ve increased our capacity out of Bristol Airport adding 10,000 additional seats.........."

Well, Cancun is doubled in capacity compared with 2017 and 2018. In 2017 the once weekly Cancun carried nearly 12,000 passengers. With the other new routes and additional capacity on others there ought to be a lot more than 10,000 additional seats unless other routes/freqencies are to be cut back.

TUI UK’s first programme launch after last year’s re-brand reveals ambitious growth plans with two new routes and additional flights out of Bristol Airport for summer 2019.

Recognising that not everyone wants to holiday for 7 or 14 nights, customers can find more 10 and 11 night stays thanks to additional flights to Antalya, Kefalonia and Cancun reflecting the enduring popularity of Greece, the resurgence of Turkey and the demand for long haul flying on the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Customers flying from Bristol Airport will see an increase of 10,000 seats offering holidaymakers more choice and flexibility than ever before. Additional flying has also been added to Naples (Italy) to support the new homeport for Marella Explorer 2, the new ship from Marella Cruises.
