Some serious good additions for S18 but you are gonna have to work it all out ! I 'll mark the best overview .

I have to say that has cheered me up no end given pessimistic comments about Thomson's plans on another site. Looking forward to seeing what we will have now.

With LRM already on sale for Apr, I wouldn't be surprised by more long haul possibly BGI or Jamaica. Maybe Cape Verde to fill in the gaps and the 787 be based all week. I can't see anything extraordinary being released that isn't already operated from say BHX or NCL.
A potential wishlist could be LAS, MRU, AUA or Cuba!

Of course, Paramount. I used them to Tenerife, Minorca and Ibiza. A great airline and it was so sad to see them cease to be (as Python would have it) accompanied by such bitter recriminations and legal battles. Many thanks, Conns.

Back to Thomson, I'll say Punta Cana, Agadir (someone used to fly there a few years ago - was it TOM?), Samos, La Palma and if Egypt is back on the menu then a resumption of Sharm and let's say Luxor as well (again TOM flew there from BRS for a brief period a few years ago).

Finally, how about a summer service to one of the former British countries in the Caribbean or even to the Dutch Aruba?

I've played, watched and followed football most of my life but can rarely predict match scores accurately. The same lack of imagination usually applies to new air routes.

How about Costa Rica , Cuba , Montego Bay , Dominican Republic, Barbados , Orlando and cancun. One a day occupies the 787

Are you suggesting the 787 might take over Cape Verde (Sal) that has been operated by a B757 since 2015? Cuba (Varadero) was operated in the summer of 2007 but then axed.

It could free up time on the 757s for other routes.

Possibly. If Sal has proved popular enough it could free up the 757 to do Boa Vista. Egypt is another good shout. I'm not sure SSH will ever return. Hurghada has been put on sale a few times recently but never materialised so maybe they will have another go. I wouldn't be surprised to see more Spanish frequencies and maybe new routes. GRO is returning this summer. With the downturn in turkey, Tunisia and Egypt, European Med destinations are becoming increasingly popular, but this has been a problem in itself as there's not been enough hotel capacity over the past year or two. It may be that Thomson and other tour operators have had the past few years to develop or take on new hotels ready for 2018 that are benefiting from other countries political and downturn in tourism issues

Assuming a based B788..... I'm going for the easy option and copying the schedule for this years TOM B788 based at BHX which operates 6x flights a week:
Cancun x2 weekly
Punta Cana x2 weekly
Orlando Sanford x1 weekly
Montego Bay x1 weekly
.... but maybe Punta Cana 1x weekly and Orlando 2x weekly?

Some posters have suggested Goa, Phuket, etc, however if TOM are to base a B788, it will almost certainly do just westbound flights during the summer. This is becuase all westbound flights leave the UK in the morning, and arrive back early the next morning. However an eastbound flight wouldn't leave until the evening, and would not arrive back until the following evening, during which time you could have operated two westbound flights (hope that makes sense). Therefore you only find TOM doing eastbound flights from the bigger bases (LGW, MAN) during the summer where there are more aircraft based to utilise.

I also wanted to take a look at which long haul destinations TOM are offering from LGW this summer. This might give some hints also as to what the new BRS destinations might be? Here's the list below:

The goa flights were operated by paramount with the md 83.If I'm right they did it for 2 years. The flight was a split load with Gatwick. The loads as I remember were very good from both airports.They did a fuel stop on the way out and back,but cant remember where.

Early release shows nothing really exciting except a weekly punta Cana and a return to Madeira. No kefalonia but bourgas and Dubrovnik go twice a week. Where's these exciting routes ?

Sal is on the Dreamliner on weds. Zante and Corfu both go three times a week. Looks like a few more w patterns too

It doesn't look as though it will be needed on Sundays, Mondays or Tuesdays.

From comments on another forum it seems that some bigger airports than BRS might be seeing cuts in their TUI summer 2018 programme (compared with summer 2017), so on the face of things BRS is doing well with these increases.

There are some intriguing comings and going though. With Turkey in the doldrums perhaps no surprise that Antalya has gone although Thomas Cook still seems to be operating it in summer 2018. I don't know whether TUI will take seats on that.

Kefalonia is also gone from summer 2018 although the new easyJet route there starting this summer will balance that and Thomas Cook still appears to be operating Kefalonia in summer 2018 as well.

As things stand Burgas will be 4 x weekly next summer - TUI (x2), Thomas Cook and BH Air.

Dubrovnik, Corfu and Zakynthos (all increases in weekly rotations) will be against Thomas Cook and easyJet (just easyJet for Dubrovnik) and Madeira will also be against easyJet.

The return of Sharm will be welcome (it once operated 5 x weekly from BRS across several airlines) and the upgrading of Cape Verde to a B787 suggests that the route is doing well.

It certainly is. A lot of cuts elsewhere means that the increases brs has is a big success. Good to hear about kefalonia too

I've had a more detailed look at the TOM reductions at some other airports and for BRS to actually gain flights like this is extremely positive, especially having regard to the Thomas Cook expansion next summer which TOM would have known about before they announced today's increases. easyJet and Ryanair have been adding to their respective summer sun portfolios from BRS as well.

A negative aspect might be that if Jet2 was looking at BRS they might find it more difficult to break into the leisure market there given the current expansion by incumbent airlines. Some are blaming the Jet2 effect for TOM reductions at bigger airports than BRS.

There is quite a few tbas and w patterns in summer 2018 schedule so far - Tenerife, lanzarote , Malaga , faro , 2 palmas plus an air europa, dala man and bodrum plus of course Malta. Also there will be no June/July break for the long haul like there is this summer
