So who is going to be there from 4 am on 6 May spotting the first passenger laden Dreamlner landing at BRS for the first time ever. Hardy souls.
The Thomson can be upto an hour early at times.

A quick check of the Thomson flight timetable section shows a 1000 departure on 6th May. I can't imagine it would arrive at 4am. It must position in on that morning, but likely will be arriving back in the UK at the usual 5-6AM time somewhere, so can't see it being in BRS before 0800

Thomson Boeing 757s
According to Jethro's Fleet Listings there are 14 Boeing 757s still in the fleet. Two are based at BRS. Jethro is showing that all will be disposed of in 2019/2020. The replacements seem to be Boeing 737 Max, with deliveries beginning in 2018.
If the two 757s are swapped for 737s when they are disposed of, whether 738 or Max, there will be a noticeable reduction in TOM seating capacity at BRS. It has to be hoped that by then TOM will have four based 737s at BRS in summer instead of the current two 757s and one 738, with corresponding reductions in the winter periods.
It will be a sad occasion when the 757s go from BRS - not many come in operated by other airlines any more, in fact I can't think of any that do on a regular basis. The first 757 I saw at BRS, from the crowds that turned up it might well have been the first at the airport, was a Monarch aircraft operating the first of its weekly charter flights to Malaga that winter. It was either in autumn 1983 or autumn 1984. I can't remember now with any certainty.

The 757's could get replaced by the 737 MAX 9. According to wikipedia the max amount of seating on them is 220. There could be either 4 of them or 2 9s and 2 8s. It is a shame that Boeing have never upgraded the 757. Seeing the photos of the Jet2 757s at CWL in Feb was great!

This Bristol Post article describes today's TOM 6606 from BRS to Las Palmas that diverted to MAN for a precautionary landing. The article does not know the reason. There is an embedded video of the landing within the newspaper article.
TOM 6606 departed BRS at 1450, one hour 55 minutes late. FR24 shows the aircraft as Boeing 757-200, G-OOBF. Passengers were transferred to another aircraft at MAN.
The flight was due back at BRS at 2345 but is showing an eta of 0530 tomorrow morning.

Further to my previous post, the suggestion is that the flaps had become stuck at an intermediate point. A post yesterday morning in the BRS movements thread suggests that G-OOBF had 'gone tech' earlier and had been replaced by a B 767 to/from TFS. Whether it was the same problem that caused the MAN diversion later is not known.
Looks like another diversion for G-OOBF. Could be for any reason by that's AOG Friday, diversion saturday and tonight

Looking at FR24 G-OOBF operated LGW-LPA this morning (having been flown from MAN to LGW yesterday after the unscheduled visit to MAN on Saturday instead of LPA) and G-OOBB operated BRS-LPA this morning.
The aircraft appear to have been switched at LPA with G-OOBB operating the return LGW and G-OOBF operating the return BRS. FR24 shows G-OOBF diverting to Porto on its way back to BRS.
Must be something about Gran Canaria that G-OOBF doesn't like.

Further to the above, the local Bristol press is reporting that the reason for the diversion to Porto was a cracked windshield.
Looking at the flight radar history for BF, about 1630 it descended from 38000ft to 10000ft rather quickly!

Punta Cana was mentioned some time ago to commence from BRS in summer 2018. We'll have to wait to see if that was true.
I doubt that a 787 could reach Phuket from the BRS runway without an intermediate stop for fuel. I'm not sure about Goa being within range.
Incidentally, I have a vague recollection of a charter airline operating Bristol-Goa for a short season. It was probably 25-30 years ago. I can't recall the airline but I believe it routed via Gatwick and may have been on a B757. Was it InterEuropean? They were certainly in evidence a lot at BRS during that period.
