Sorry TLY. I meant that it's not possible for certain customers (E.G if they haven't checked in online) or entire flights (Ski, USA etc) that can't use them.
They are very easy to use otherwise and people are becoming less scared to use them. It's certainly the way forward.

Cape Verde - Sal

This summer Sal is operated by a TUI B788 on Wednesdays. In summer 2017 it was operated by a B757 on Fridays.

In May 2017 there were four rotations (eight sectors) in the month and 1690 passengers were carried, an average load of 211 in the month.

In May 2018 there were five rotations (ten sectors) in the month and 2531 passengers were carried (an increase of 50% on May 2017), an average load of 253 in the month.

Although this means a lower load factor on the 788 compared with the 757, the use of the larger aircraft enabled far more passengers to take advantage of the service. Only TUI will know the economics of it all.

It's possible as well that the use of the 787 on the route has made it more attractive to many customers who might not have wanted to spend 6 hours in a narrow body.

Possibly for some but our grand daughter and her boyfriend used it recently to Sal and didn't know what sort of aircraft they were flying on until I told her.

I've always preferred narrow bodies over wide bodies, not least because there is a much greater percentage chance of getting a window seat. I think there are few things worse in flying than being stuck in the middle row of a two-aisled aircraft. It's like riding in a lift.

Keflavik

Has it been reported before that TUI appear to have abandoned their 2 x weekly Keflavik service this winter? It was due to commence in November. The TUI timetable is showing only flights from LGW and MAN to KEF throughout the winter with an East Midlands route from January to March. I wondered at the time why they were taking on easyJet after WOW showed that two airlines on the route was too much.

TUI also axed their announced Boa Vista (Cape Verde) winter route some months ago, so Sal will be the only one to those islands.

Did the Florida flight go today as the departure boards are confusing. They showed every thing except the flight departed.

Today is the resumption of the TUI Cancun flights from BRS. FR24 shows TOM644 (BRS-CUN) currently flying over Merthyr Tydfil having flown to MAN (presumably for fuel) and then nearly all the way back to the Bristol area before setting out across the Atlantic.

Not sure what's happening this morning. BRS departures page is showing TOM644, sched departure 0920, as 'boarding' for the last hour. No track of it on FR24 at the moment but the FR24 departures list for BRS shows an estimated departure time of 0943 - nearly two hours ago.

The aircraft that did Sanford yesterday did a return flight to EDI. So there had to be a position flight from somewhere today.

The aircraft is on the apron now as tom 644. It flew in from EDI with that call sign. Reg number is G TUIH. Its running late and departure boards are showing next info ? I looked at aircraft on ground at 12 mid day.

G-TUIE (Miles of Smiles) has operated via Manchester today. Just left MAN for Mexico.

The Florida went via Manchester yesterday(Friday) as well.Looking at the weather out in the atlantic I can sort of see why.
