Over to you then CWL or BRS or LPL

But on a serious note and this is nothing against either airport but i really think we risk the scenario in 2019 that CWL/BRS or indeed LPL will have TATL flights and BHX ZILCH

And how embarrasing will that feel. :inpain:

BTW had my cancellation email today, yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
BHX does have it's TUI long haul programme. I think I'd rather see that at CWL!

But that doesnt include flights to Toronto and New York. As myself and Ray have mentioned i dont think we have known the airport not to have flights to these 2 North American cities and this is what is gut wrenching as a BHX supporter.

And in that respect BHX has gone backwards which for airports in 2018 is very unusual. At least CWL/BRS are going forward.

That is true. Hopefully in the future BHX can find an airline that is willing to operate those routes again and one that won't mess the airport around.

Question now is, who would take on the Toronto and NYC flights? On paper, three airlines have disappeared on these routes in the past 12 months (for whatever reason). Would United ot AA return? Do these two airlines have any 757/767 replacements on order? A regular A321neo route could really work, I have no doubt on that, especially for NYC. Can the 737MAX reach NYC from BHX?

Can the 737MAX reach NYC from BHX?

Almost certainly. Norwegian operate a flight from Bergen to Stewart Int (North of NYC) which is 124km further than BHX to JFK. The published range for the MAX 8 is 6570km whilst BHX - JFK is just over 5400km.

Not exactly. At the lower end they either have the A321NEO and/or 737MAX whilst at the upper end both have the 787-8. I can't see AA or UA returning to BHX with either of those. The likely replacement for their 757/767 will be the 797/NMA if Boeing launches it, but that won't see deliveries start until 2025/26 at the earliest.

Baring any other new start ups, BHX's only options for the foreseeable future are JetBlue for NYC and WestJet for YYZ. Whilst I'm sure both are on BHX's radar, the real question is is BHX on theirs?

Without any direct services on the horizon to the US/Canada, I would think (hope) chances are pretty good for Icelandair returning or perhaps Wow Air starting, but dare I say it, this is BHX so maybe even that's too much of a long shot now.

Norwegian or JetBlue would be fantastic for BHX.

I think 737MAX or A321NEO ops once they've been going for a while would very much suit Birmingham. Rather than cramming all the numbers on one daily flight in the morning, you could have 2 or 3 daily offering flexible flight times. There's some wishful thinking anyway.

Norwegian, however, has said before that BHX is not part of their long-haul growth program.

Regarding JetBlue, I'm not sure they'd be willing to give BHX the time of day. It could be another case of "here's a flight, oh no it didn't get the bookings we wanted in the first few weeks so we'll pull it rather than letting the route mature" (Primera with Boston is what I'm getting at)

PROVE ME WRONG NORWEGIAN OR JETBLUE. PLEASE.

I really can`t see Jet Blue as I think they are looking at a strong destination as a start up,
my bets are CDG, LGW or EDI and possibly DUB I don`t see BHX or MAN as at
least they have a deal with TCX for interlinking fom a number of points in the US to MAN

Jetblue is about to embark on a totally new venture that will cost millions. From a JB point of view, they'd launch into a stronger market first (Paris,London ect) as it is a make or break venture. Maybe in a few years if their stronger routes have lived up to expectation, they may begin to explore thinner markets such as BHX, ORK, BRS ect. I'm not saying BHX cant support TATL, Its just that I dont see JB coming to BHX straight away after PW,UA and AA failed. Take into account that the yield needs to be much higher as it is a LCC. As for Norwegian, BFS is struggling to maintain SWF or PVD (as is ORK with PVD). EDI,DUB,SNN seem to be doing well so who knows. Hopefully they give BHX a shot.

If that was possible then I would love to see the financial model that supports the route. Southampton claim to fame is to break the 2m passengers in 2017, 8 airlines, 89% dominated by Flybe with the top route to Jersey and 2018 passengers down on 2017
That would be an eye opener !!!

Who is the airline?
Primera apparently.

Only thing I could see it being tied in with is cruises. They'd have to have the support of the cruise ship companies for that but then there is the doubt about it operationally in that SOU has a short runway and can an A321 operate from it let alone across the Atlantic!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
