Singapore will likely go daily at Manchester before adding any more UK airports, and even then, I suspect they'd probably go for EDI before BHX.

They've had pretty much all their A350's delivered now, with the B777X not due until 2025 at least, so new routes will likely have to wait for then when the 777X will replace 777-300s on routes, then those 777-300s replace A350's leaving those aircraft to launch the new routes.

EDI is not fit for these high end airlines, I see report after report of United and Air Canada having to wait on a remote stand for over 30 minutes as there is no gate available, what a farce and airlines are queing up to go there.

Come to BHX, good facilities, airbridges that work and plenty of space.

Ditch EDI, come to BHX ;-)

So is it worth letting Kev know so he can make it Private so he doesn't get in trouble or is it worth leaving so the Airport could identify the guy by his ID and take appropriate action. It ay Kev's fault I guess
I very much doubt that Kev or Airport Action would get into any trouble for something said by a contributor on livestream. As long as Airport Action have a disclaimer saying that views posted by contributors do not necessarily represent those of Airport Action or it's team.
I have even more doubt that the person making the claim has any inside info as to what is being discussed between BHX management and any airline.

I think there was chatter on this forum not long before Covid and I remember SCOOT being mentioned which of course is a low cost part of Singapore Airlines, well if they are good enough for Berlin and Athens, they are good enough for Brum.

I don't think he does Kev did react to it but obviously he was just reading chat in between filming. He does read it back after I might just let him know that the SQ Stuff isn't true and upon asking if the guy worked at the airport he should not have leaked that more than likely it is Rubbish

to be honest all this talk about Singapore Airlines "talking" to Birmingham is most likely correct. Birmingham will be in correspondence with lots of airlines, about new routes, services, what the airport can offer, what deals are available, trying to entice them etc. They may have been talking to Singapore for years!!! We all know that a certain Finnish airline has been in talks with Birmingham for 30 years, yet still no route.

Talking and actually starting a route is two different things.

I was actually following the Airport Action stream on Sunday, this guy would not work at the airport, but who know where his information may have come from, most likely "chinese whispers!" I would not take any notice af any casual remark someones says in a chat, some people just like the attention or enjoying winding others up!! Senior Management/Route Developement Team at BHX would never release this information to anyone, until the route is confirmed and agreed with the airlines.

it's a non story, and not really worth the debate about!

EDI completely different model to BHX.

US ,Canadian Airlines flying their tourists into EDI .For EDI Castle, city, and Scottish Lochs and mountains tours.

BHX mostly midland residents and business people out. This is part restricted now due to the poor strength of the pound.

Oh No if you notice I didn't I said if you work at Birmingham I'm a Unicorn he then called Me a,Unicorn so he wanted us to believe he worked there I wasn't sure but I wanted to check that if he did he wasn't going to Kev in trouble for information he leaked he also initially said that it was happening then that they were in Talks.

It also happens at BHX more than you think. 30 mins is not very often and is mainly long haul arrivals in the morning ( hence not very often) with the stand occupier running into problems blocking the stand. Which I imagine is the same problem at EDI.

It happens at most airports at the points where a flight is delayed on stand with an inbound , now if it is a large aircraft with only certain stands available it can cause a big problem. and happens several times a week
at most airports

Now I know I’m not no genius my destinations and airlines but I’m gonna predict next summer. And yes it’s just a prediction.

Singapore airlines:Only see This happening in end of August only with it 2 weekly flights using A350

Qatar airways:10 weekly .3 out of 10 will be 787-9 and 787-8 will be 7/10

Turkish airlines:Operate 3 daily flights using A21N

Saudia:4 weekly flights

Air India:Amritsar 4 weekly and delhi 3 weekly. Both destinations using 787-8.

Aer lingus:New route to Cork 2 weekly using ATR72

Jet2:New route to Tel aviv and Valencia 3 weekly

Loganair:14 weekly flights to Isle of Man,2 weekly flights to Newquay and 9 weekly flights Inverness and 1 weekly flight to Dundee

Eastern airways:3 weekly flights to Humberside

Always Ant ....predictions are good fun and start great conversations. There's a chance for any of those new routes to happen......maybe 🤔😊

It would be good to have a service to Newcastle again. A route Eastern gave up a few years ago.
Perhaps a Birmingham - Humberside - Newcastle - Dundee mix might work with the right equipment. Even carrying on south to Bristol/Southampton/Newquay.
A similar operation to the Dan Air HS748 service of the 1970's.
Then again.........🤔

Wait for the negative replies pouring water over your Singapore airlines and Jet2 predictions.....3...2...1
Turkish are not even double daily yet on A321s, its one A321 and one B737-8.

So it will likely go double daily A321 next summer not three daily.

Singapore Airlines certainly possible for BHX in the future but not yet.

Manchester dropped from double daily A359 before Covid. Routing Singapore-MAN-IAD-MAN-Singapore now its only daily.

Once that gets back up to double daily at MAN, and also max out LHR useful connecting slots I think they may well look at BHX.

Saudia 4 weekly I think is pretty certain.Route is way above expectations already and one of the 3 weekly flts goes to a 787-10 in a few weeks.

Air India who knows. They have quit BHX twice before for MAN only to come back.

They have again put in slots out of MAN for Mumbai.Impossible airline to predict, but if they stay at BHX perhaps an extra Delhi and ATQ.

Qatar, seems very likely to go up to 10 a week on 788s.They have delays in B789 and A350 deliveries , but think we will get up to 10 flts next summer.

Unless I have misremembered, SQ was never twice daily at MAN. On some days the SIN-MAN coincides with the IAH-MAN meaning two aircraft on the ground. Not seen anything suggesting they will open a new UK destination and somehow doubt it.

No reason AI would quit BHX if it starts MAN-BOM.

I think Singapore would be more likely than Humberside tbh

MAN to SIN runs 5 weekly, whilst MAN to IAH runs 3 weekly currently but increases to 5 weekly next summer.

As @gulftraveller highlights sometimes you get both on the ground in MAN at the same time though.

Personally I don't think we'll see any new long haul airlines for a few years now - more than happy to be proven wrong though!

The focus should be on:

- Emirates getting back to either double daily A380 (sorry @CL44) or the morning flight on a B777 or even A350 as they're meant to start being delivered next year.

- Increasing frequencies on all other scheduled long haul routes: Doha, Jeddah, Delhi, Amritsar.

On the short haul side we have the new easyJet base to look forward to, and if we could get Ryanair to keep their new routes we'll be in a good place.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
