Whilst I can understand David's comments, this is a rumours page and the odd positive hint here and therr does lead to a sometimes amusing frenzy of crazy speculation. I just wish that we had more that come to fruition. But it is our time to consolidate so that will be the exception rather than the rule this year.

On the east v West links, I was confident that Iran would return but that is off the cards until things settle after Clumps announcment last week. If the wiser world leaders see sense and given the sheer scale of Iran's economic and tourist capabilities, I would not be surpised if BHX is looked at again.

I maintain that there is a niche for the eastern markets, including India, and this should be our focus, and worry less about the US and China. Both would be nice, but I am not sure that they offer the long-term growth considering other options in the UK plus BHX via AMS and DXB.

I would never divulge what I know at BHX either I am simply trying to say things are happening we just need to be patient
You are quite right not to divulge privileged information. But just to keep saying something might be happening
hopefully in the near/medium future be patient is pointless. If it happens we do not know that is what you were referring to and if it does not, well we never knew what the possibility was anyway.

That. to me, is why this "teasing" is of no benefit to anyone... it just makes a mockery of the forum and so ceases to be considered of value. If you get knowledge of routes, either spill the beans, keep quiet or advise trusted friends through PMs. Some of us get privy to information that we keep quiet. I know of a who and where for some routes out of MAN. Not a chance of me divulging them though.

I think you are confused.

This is a rumours page ....and a BHX one at that.

If you don't like what your read don't visit !!

Yeah just further emphasis on this being a RUMOUR forum, it literally says that in the title

RUMOURs, nothing concrete unless a press release is given, which ends up being in the airlines own page anyway

So personally i think speculation and RUMOURs are welcome on a RUMOUR page

Why do we all love and get excited about potential long haul than short haul ☺
Because spotters want long haul services from brum but sadly brum will only ever have bit part long haul services with false hopes and rumours of future services.

Hi there Ray and all, yet again, we keep getting these people who keep saying, I can not divulged any Info that i already know, so why bother coming onto a forum and saying that if you are not going to divulge anything at all, until we get any press releases from the airport, then we'll have to wait and see. . Andyc

It's a tough situation, some people like the snippets and enjoy the speculation, others are sick of waiting and just want the announcements. I can understand both sides but as they say, you can't please all of the people all of the time.

In fairness to Ian there are two new long haul services rumoured, to me both are credible rumours and both (if they happen) will be very welcome indeed.

I think the real issue is 'when'. Sadly only those involved will know but sometimes these things can be arranged many months before an actual announcement.

My own opinion is that (if they happen) one could be announced at anytime but I'd be very surprised if the other started before S19 which, if so, means we probably wouldn't hear anything until after the summer.

It's been a quiet few months which undoubtedly can lead to frustration but I think Ian is just making the point that things are happening and even if they are not always successful, the RD are trying hard.

I see User001 is 'teasing' new long haul routes to be announced from MAN this winter, I patiently wait for you to call him out for making a mockery of the forum.

You mean the one that advises select people who he trusts not to divulge about new routes weeks in advance whereupon we see it annnounced versus one who blows unicorn smoke out of his backside. So no, no calling out.

No, I mean the one where Ethiopean is described as one of three potential new long haul routes this winter, the other 2 are teased. On a rumours forum where rumours are posted.

If someone is in possession of information then I believe that it is up to that individual and that individual alone what they do with it.

If that person decides to keep it to themselves, or just share it with a select few, then that is entirely their prerogative. On the other hand if they wish to post it on an open forum, they have every right to do so. There is no right or wrong.

Differences of opinion are inevitable and as long as it is done respectfully, debate is more than welcome but please, lets not make it personal.

I 've just been told Jet Airways are starting Indian flights.

NOT TO BIRMINGHAM but Manchester.

I don't want to be a killjoy but could this be the route that Ian was discussing as it connects with Virgin services to the US

Were they simply using Birmingham as a negotiation tactic.

It's another blow.

I think it's perfectly reasonable for Jet Airways to go to Manchester, considering Birmingham already has two destinations served by Air India (ATQ and DEL) and Manchester-Mumbai is one of the largest unserved markets from Europe at present.

I believe Air India are doing greatly at BHX, with ever-increasing flights and the possibility of a TATL to YYZ.

Yes i agree with Ian JET were never coming to BHX, i could see that a mile away.

Well its in Air India's capacity to launch a direct competition to MAN-BOM and launch BHX-BOM, it is in there hands now.

Im not surprised at this news at all, well done to MAN.

Although Jet Airways will add choice to passengers who don't care which airline they use or from where their departure airport is, for those wanting to fly with a flag carrier from their local airport will undoubtedly continue to fly with Air India to India. #airIndia

Will Air India see this as a push to compete on the Mumbai route or will this cause them to turn their noses up at it?

Loving what they are doing for BHX at the minute

AI should concentrate on linking their Delhi/Amritsar services with the US/Canada.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
