If an extra jet bridge is being fitted then I'd say it's most likely to be a 2 class, 615 is a lot of pax. A 3 class could probably be done comfortably from the two that are there now.
Arrivals will be groaning under the weight!

I think it's time for either another arrivals area or a serious redesigning of our old area--even if it does mean we have to sacrifice the view onto the apron :s_sad

Was playing golf at Widney Manor that day. The whole course came to a standstill when it came over, both landing and taking off if I remember correctly.

Great news if this is confirmned, BHX has just gone BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

Next year on a saturday we could see 3 x EK (777, 777, A380) 2 X Qatar (787, 787) and an Air India (787) and a Thomson (787)

I cant wait.

So guys do you think 2016 is going to trump 2015 ?????????

it would pretty hard for 2016 not to trump 2015, especially as 2016 should not have a monarch/flybe effect!!! it should just be pure growth and not making up for lost pax from a major contraction of another airline!!!

....interesting that PKs tweet has prompted this as a convo... Im pretty sure we have another airline and/or route on the way ;o)

2015

Feb: Icelandair
March: Norwegian, Turkish up to 12x weekly
April: VLM
May: American Airlines
May: Vueling
August: Third Emirates flight.
September: Wizz Air

2016

March: Iberia Express
March: Qatar Airways
March: Blue Air
April: Czech Airlines
May: EK A380?

I think they're both equal at the moment but there should be a bit more to come for 2016.

If we can squeeze a couple of new routes out of Norwegian, possibly one or two more from Flybe and/or Wizz Air and keep the load factors healthy then I'd say 11 million pax is not unrealistic?

It's definitely a big ask but if we do see a high density A380, some new routes from Norwegian, Flybe and Wizz and the load factor is healthy across the board then, who knows? It is a big ask though.

Seems we'll have to wait a little longer for Mr K's news, from Twitter

Daniel, I am afraid you are going to have to wait but it will be worth it.

PK is certainly bigging this announcement up a little isn't he. it must be a biggy....

I cant wait, another exciting week of news for BHX followers awaits again. Im loving this :hatsoff:

Anyone considered that this announcement may be related to their recent trips to India? They have been a few times, with the last one only a couple of weeks ago.

I still think it will be an EK A380 but you never know.

He does seem to be bigging it up a little so I hope it's as juicy as he's making out

The only things I can think of are something from Air India, possibly to pre-empt Norwegian. A seasonal flight to ORD, they've been after one for a while. Or the most likely, an EK A380?

Hi there ray and all, after all these great announcements that we have had recently that's named ten or even eleven airlines now going to start flights from Birmingham, wouldn't it be an bigger shock that British Airways, Virgin, delta, cathy pacific and even easyjet were to all announce new flights or routes from Birmingham or even easyjet increased expansion, I know what you might be thinking ray, but it would be an absolute dream or icing on the cake for Birmingham to get these airlines to come to Birmingham or just to increase there existing routes... oh well ray, I suppose we'll just have to dreaming... Andyc

Other than connecting flights to link into their Heathrow base, do London Airways even fly anywhere else from Manchester?

I'd be happy if the wait was for the conformation of Norwegians AOC and they started Orlando and Las Vegas.

Back in dream land again?

Nope, unless you count the Sun Air flights to Gothenburg and Billund :s_no

It is being reported on another forum that CAAC(Air China)has applied to serve BHX from both Beijing and Ghangzhou, once weekly.
Flights could start in April.
Is this the big news or is this something else. One to watch out for though :good:

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
