That's an interesting one because they are going to do US routes out of Budapest. They could just get a UK AOC for any UK TATL just look at Norwegian.

so trying to work out who this possible mysterious new airline which is going to introduce 3 new long haul routes could be, by all the clues we have been given....

it has to be a European airline flying A330's or A350's or B767's or B787's, and not currently serving BHX?

Air Berlin? Air Europa? Wamos Air? Euro Atlantic? HiFly? Corsair? French Blue? Open Skies? XL Airways France?

the list could go on, however surely we need a carrier with a household name, good reputation etc that the Birmingham public know? If the mighty 'United' and 'AA' couldnt make a profit on the route, can any airline now succeed?

anyone flying the UK to USA, and not into aviation, surely won't give a none UK or USA airline a second look when booking? Who ever the airline is, along with BHX airport, they are really going to have to spend millions on marketing these routes to make it a success?

I wish them luck, they are going to need deep pockets to get this venture off the ground!!

Further thoughts - it's said that there will be three destinations served from BHX. I can't see all three destinations being operated daily, so is most likely to be operated by one or two aircraft.
It has also been said that the flights will not be transits through BHX. Logistically, does this indicate that aircraft and crew will be based in Birmingham?

I just hope that there is an announcement soon, they could get some great publicity off the back of the United story.

One things for sure this airline will need the full support of our region. We don't exactly seem to be in a position where airlines are queuing up to serve the US so we can cherry pick the best, we have possibly reached the point where we have to take what we can get. One or two eyebrows might be raised but when the dust settles we need to be totally behind them, with the sheer might of LHR so easily accessible it's hard enough as it is.

Eyebrows raised has me worried :nailbiting:

the other carrier rumoured is a real coup if it happens, lets hope its good news
I don't think anyone has been asking about this as we've been all over the rumoured TATL services... but are there any more details on this other airline that would be a "coup"? Is it a long haul airline, and if so, will it be heading east or west?...

Long haul heading east. If it comes off it will cause quite a stir.

Take it easy guys, nothing is going to get announced today. Remember, Friday has always been known as Poets Day (P... Off Early, Tomorrow's Saturday)!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
