Thanks, Jerry. I wonder how this compares with summer 2017. I suspect it's broadly similar. TOM have based a B738 at EXT for a number of years. When TUI and First Choice merged ten years ago EXT had a First Choice A320 based there which was eventually superseded by the TOM 738.

From people I know who have used EXT it's a great little airport. It's only 70 miles down the M5 from me. I've been meaning to try it for a number of years but these days my wife and I don't fly as often as we once did, preferring to take the train for Continental holidays. When we do fly short-haul BRS is only 20 minutes away. Maybe some day though................

Coincidentally, I was looking through the EXT website (something I've not done for a few weeks) when you were posting this.

I'm guessing it's probably the same as last year. I can't see them really changing it. 2 of their flights do seem to be by non based aircraft. I suppose considering other bases have lost routes and aircraft EXT can be glad it didn't lose the base.

Summer 2018 looks to be the similar to this year.

This year the Mondays only Dalaman rotation is covered by an A320 operated by Turkish Airline Freebird and don't forget the Thomas Cook Saturdays only rotation from and to Palma De Mallorca worked by an A321.

But no mention of the Air Malta rotation on Tuesdays.

Jerry - There's plenty of work to keep one B737 based at EXT, but not enough work for a second aircraft.

The TCX Saturday Palma is operated by one of the BRS-based TCX A321s on a W routing.

Air Malta is not operating this year. It stopped its operations to a number of airports including EXT and CWL.

Thanks TheLocalYokel. The TCX A321 Saturday rotation is the same as previous years.

It's interesting to note during the summer that the EXT based Thomson B737 on Mondays will continue to cover the Gran Canaria rotation rather than the Dalaman turn as per previous years - hence the hire-in from Turkish Airline Freebird.

In previous years either Norwegian or Air Europa have covered the Gran Canaria turn on summer Mondays, releasing the EXT based Thomson B737 to cover the Dalaman rotation.

If they are to increase any flights then it's probably going to be by more non based aircraft. Like CWL I can't see them basing another aircraft at EXT.

It may be that the Turkish carrier is cheaper thus they've opted to go with it this and probably next year as well.

I also see on another Aviation website that TUI/Thomson have the B737 MAX on order to replace the existing B737 800 fleet, with deliveries expected from next year....

A few months ago there was a discussion about Thomson (and other airlines) finding it more difficult to source other carriers to operate for this summer. That might be part of the answer.

Indeed, partly also to replace the TOM B 757s, the remaining ones of which are due for disposal by 2020.

EXT press release:

Exeter Airport has received an award for winning the Thomson Airways ‘Base of the Month’ for February.

The airline’s figures show that Exeter was the best ‘On Time Base’, for low volume, with a fantastic 100% of flights departing within 15 minutes of schedule.

And also to replace their small fleet of B767's.

Considering TOM is part of TUI I'm surprised that during the summer at least they don't base aircraft at airport's like PMI ALC and AGP and operate the flights from there and free up based aircraft to operate flights like DLM. Another option would be to use more widebodies from airport's like Gatwick to free up the 737s.

Additional Dalaman weekly flight summer 2018

http://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/exeter-airport-extra-weekly-flight-1040645

A Sunday flight to Dalaman will be added to the already announced Thursday flight. I don't know who will be the carrier. I presume the based TUI B738 will already have been fully allocated on summer Sundays.
Good news for EXT and hopefully will help to push the annual passenger figures over the 1 million mark.

The Exeter based TUI B738 is already diagrammed to work the Sunday rotations to Lanzarote and Larnaca as per previous years. Both the Thursday and Sunday flights to Dalaman will be resourced by a another airline(s) yet to be announced.

Also i don't know if this has been mentioned but TUI have a Lapland day trip on sale for Saturday 1st December 2018 to Rovaniemi. Good news for EXT on the extra Dalaman flight!

The TUI website this morning shows both the EXT flights to/from Dalaman on Thursdays and Sundays as being operated by Turkish airline Freebird.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
