Re: Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

What is it doing at MAN?

Also it looks like there are some 'heavy' BA aircraft there, maybe a 777? Any reason for that?

I thought that too. Haven't BA pulled out of Manchester now?

Re: Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

The BA aircraft were there, in total three Boeing 777-200's due to LGW being closed, they diverted into MAN, but that Alwafeer Air Boeing 747-400 HZ-AWA1 was returning from a Hajj charter to MAN.

Re: Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

The 2 x British Airways Boeing 777's in that pic at Manchester were both London Gatwick diversions due to the snow closer last week.

By way Aviador, British Airways have not totally pulled out of Manchester. They still operate high frequency shuttle flights with Airbus 320 and 321's to London Heathrow and the Boeing 737's to London Gatwick several times a day. Also franchise partner Sun Air of Scandinavia operate there DO328's in full British Airways Colours on there route to Billund if i remember correctly.

Honest? I think it looks great!

Re: Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

I agree 767! It's long and strange, but its just genius that it can be that long!
The A340-500/300 maybe looks a little bit more proportional!

I think the 777-200 looks strange, its sort of 'fat' in its height!

Re: Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

Looks like ATC problems are going to effect operations tonight.

The BBC has just issued the following travel advice on its website @ http://www.bbc.co.uk/travelnews/air/

Manchester International Airport : Delays possible to flights to and from Manchester Airport due to technical problem with Air Traffic Control systems. Passengers advised to check in as normal.

Thanks for the info. Would that be down to bad planning do you think?

Re: Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

Maybe, or could have been told to expect delays into LHR

Yes I suppose, or head wind I guess.

Re: Diversions, Delays & Cancellations

VS008 diverted to MAN

According to a poster on another forum the reason was that after leaving LAX a medical emergency was declared. The aircraft turned around to return to LAX but the emergency was dealt with prior to reaching there so the aircraft turned around again and headed to LHR.

This left it short of fuel, hence the divert to MAN. Apparently the original intention was to divert to GLA but lack of support there meant MAN was the better option.

I'm merely repeating what I read so please don't shoot the messenger if it's wrong.

Inbound weather divert from LBA the LS202 from Amsterdam to Leeds Bradford airport.

Manchester has done well out of weather diverts from Leeds again. It's been a while since the weather has caused such large disruption across the hill.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
