Yes the A340 is on the IB3166. I might as well be a good sales man and drop my trip report in here!

I've also done the 767 flight - takes off at 06:20 (first departure of the day?) and would probably be back around midday like you say. I'm sure BA do a 777 or 787 evening flight also. I'm a huge fan of widebodies on short routes, especially the older ones which will be gone soon like the 767 and 747.

Being honest watching the trip reports you post and others on utube gave me the idea for the trip. I've got a flight to the US at the end of June that'll I'll do and then my original idea was to compare Iberia Express from Cardiff with Easyjet from Bristol but Easyjets MAD flight doesn't get back till 23.00 which is way to late so i changed to LHR and I'm looking at BA to see what they are like! And I've never flown short haul on a wide body before so should be an interesting experience!

Ahh great - good to hear. I might try and sneak IB express from Cardiff into this year myself. BA aren't honestly as bad as most say in my opinion. Of course Buy on Board is a pain but only if you fly them frequently in reality, because of all that free booze you no longer get!

Heading to Portland in June Jerry?

Just booked my flight from Cardiff to Madrid in August, total one way £43, £31 for the flight and £12 for a window seat, also had a discount of £8 for signing up to Club Express. Looking forward to flying with Iberia Express and seeing what they are like as an airline, as up until now i've only flown with KLM and Flybe from Cardiff.

Bloomin heck. That's a good price for August. You did well to get in quickly with that. Your trip report will be read with interest later in the year.

Bargain jerry ! There was me all smug havn booked me & mrs sean 123 to verona for £120 each !
Yeah it is. It's a Thursday flight so might explain why, from what i saw the Sunday flights were more expensive.
£120 for a return isn't to bad either!

Iberia Express Cardiff to Madrid service returns
  • Twice weekly flights to the Spanish capital return on 14th June following positive customer feedback during its first season of flying
  • Fares available from £42 each way when purchasing a round trip
  • Direct flight to the Madrid hub creates options for customers to fly onward to South America
Spanish airline Iberia Express has confirmed that direct flights between Cardiff and Madrid will return from 14th June. Twice weekly flights will operate for the summer season on Thursday and Sunday, linking the capitals of Wales and Spain together.

The introduction of this route to Iberia Express’ 2018 summer programme follows the positive response it achieved last summer from both the Spanish and UK markets, including point-to-point passengers and passengers connecting via Iberia’s hub in Madrid.

Home to Welsh football hero Gareth Bale, Madrid is popular with sport fans and is also an ideal location for a city break with art, history, fashion and a bustling foodie scene to explore and enjoy.

Trevor Martin, Chief Commercial Officer of Iberia Express said: "We are very pleased to restart service on the Cardiff-Madrid route this summer season. Our aim is to consolidate its position within our growing list of destinations, while maintaining the great service and value for money our customers expect from us. The route clearly reflects our commitment to the United Kingdom, which is one of the main markets for tourists coming to Spain.”

Deb Barber, CEO of Cardiff Airport, added: “Iberia Express came to Cardiff as a new airline partner last summer with an exciting new route to a capital city airport which is also a busy hub for connecting passengers. After positive feedback we’re really pleased that the airline has returned for a second year of flying passengers from Wales to the Spanish capital, and onwards to key destinations across South America.”

The news of the return of flights to Madrid for a second summer season comes following positive customer feedback when the route was launched as part of Iberia Express’ 2017 summer programme. The announcement also strengthens the airline’s commitment to the United Kingdom, where flights operate between Madrid and London Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh and from Asturias to London Heathrow.

Additionally, Iberia - the parent company of Iberia Express - offers eight daily flights from London Heathrow to Madrid.

Iberia Express, the low-cost airline of the Iberia Group, operates short and medium-haul routes throughout Europe and also provides direct as well as feeder traffic to Iberia's extensive long-haul network around the world, especially in Latin America. Iberia Express is a member of oneworld, an alliance of eleven airlines, which offers passengers 14,000 flights every day to around 1,000 destinations across 150 countries. In 2017 Iberia Express was named the world’s most punctual low-cost airline, for the fourth year running, by flight data experts FlightGlobal.

Iberia Express have up to 35% off flights to and from Cardiff and the airport also sent out a discount code CWLMAD2018 to be used at checkout.

Iberia Express are back today with their seasonal service to Madrid.
A quick look at the seat selection and today's inbound flight from Madrid has 76 seats taken and the outbound from Cardiff has 124 taken up. Hopefully as well that'll get increased with people checking in at the airport.

Let us know how many are onboard Jerry!

Also, are you on the mighty 767 tomorrow?
Yep all checked in for that though i wasn't happy with BA as they changed my seat to an aisle seat even though I'd paid extra for a window seat! Changed it back to a window seat now after no extra charge.

Onboard now and the flight seems to be pretty full I've been told elsewhere that the load is 157 passengers and that seems to be about right. Also there seems to be plenty of Spanish voices and i mean plenty! Which hopefully means Iberia Express will continue it next summer!

Have a good trip jerry!
Thanks! It was a good flight! Felt like a Spanish domestic flight at times with the amount of Spanish onboard! Lol. Iberia Express are a good airline.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
