I myself personally think BBC News don’t do too bad of a job reporting local news in and throughout Yorkshire. I would rather watch BBC’s Look North programme as its a lot better than what comes out of ITV’s regional news programme Calendar. Its also miles better than anything Sky News reports from around this neck of the woods which is every now and again.

I agreed!

Wigon football club flew out this afternoon to Murcia after their 1-0 defeat against Manchester City yesterday. Where would the club have taken them had they won?

Look North although based in Leeds, think South Yorkshire and Sheffield in particular is the centre of the universe!

I know this post was made two months ago, but I've only just seen it! The programme is generally know as "Look Leeds" down here - "Tonight's main story, a cat got stuck up a tree in Leeds - we'll be live on site and take up 15 minutes of the programme. Meanwhile, there has been a spate of mass-murder in Rotherham. Anyway, moving on, here's Paul the weatherman". The same with LBA v DSA - they do seem to be down at LBA for every little bit of news, but will only visit DSA if they really have to. I think the last time they came was when easyJet announced they were leaving. I prefer Calendar as they seem slightly less biased towards Leeds/West Yorkshire!

Good god, theres no paranoia in this thread is there?!?

Personally, and in a more honest approach, It seems things are fairly balanced on look north. Theres a few stories from Leeds, a few from the South Yorkshire area, and then the bits inbetween.

As for it being bad news, 90% of news is bad, otherwise it wouldnt make a news story would it? No one wants to know that Auntie Doris down the road baked a cake for the local church sale, people want to know how much MP's have claimed on their expenses, how aviation is ruining the world and people going missing etc etc.

Can I suggest we drop this silly debate, as we are all here for our love of aviation, and leave the news to its own devices. If you dont like the news, dont watch it, no one is forcing you to!

I'm surprised Wigan used LBA and not MAN today! I guess they will be going to the golf resorts for a few weeks seen as they are out of the cup!

Murcia on our 757's...!!!!!!

Ho de Ho. I used to love watching Hi de Hi, innocent yet very funny series without any swearing.

Hopefully someone at LBA will be able to confirm, but I wouldn't mind putting a bet on that Cardiff City FC passed through LBA today, having flown on a Loganair charter from Cardiff, ahead of their final Championship match at Burnley tomorrow.

The England under 21 football team flew out of multiflight this afternoon on there 737 bbj to Iceland

Thanks for that information Moo2009, although I don't think that Multiflight's 737 is a BBJ - as far as I know the old one that they sold (G-0BBJ) was, but this one is just a 737-300 I think. Perhaps one of the other members will be able to confirm? I don't think it actually belongs to Multiflight either despite being based there, maintained there and carrying their livery.

It's nice to see some different people passing through the airport.

As far as I know, White Heather seems to be along the right lines here. G-OBBJ was a 737BBJ but they sold that a few years back. I think the aircraft that they currently operate is owned by 'GainJet' and it's registration is SX-MTF.

I don't know if this is a long-term lease but on the actual Multiflight website they are showing vacancies for a first-officer to fly, what they are calling, a B737VIP.

Here's the link for the news article on the Multiflight website, stating that it is available for private hire:

Here's the link for the vacancy if anyone is interested:

Sir Elton John passed through LBA yesterday on a private aircraft using Multiflight. I'm not sure what the aircraft registration was.

I was watching the cricket between Ireland and Australia this morning on Sky sports and Michael Atherton, Previous England cricket captain and opening batter, said he passed through Leeds Bradford airport yesterday evening on his way to Belfast.

Not sure if this really counts as a personality but 5, yes FIVE Olympic torches came through the airport this afternoon.

Olympic gold and bronze medallists, the Brownlees' flew into LBA on a privately chartered aircraft today.

Two personalities came through the airport today.

The first was Jenny McAlpine who plays Fizz in Coronation Street.

The second was former Radio 1 presenter Dave Lee Travis or at least I was 99% sure it was him but he looked rather untidy unlike how he looks in the picture. The gentleman sounded just like him though, so much so I though I was listening to the radio!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
