No surprise there, more often than not Thomson’s new routes never materialise. Hopefully Podgorica will still go ahead.

It's why I'd never run the risk of booking anything that TUi release.

I still struggle to see the point of releasing something in the depths of winter then removing a couple of weeks later. I just don't see how that can reliably gauge demand.

The BHX press release about the extra Hurghada flights.

TUI adds almost 5000 seats to the Red Sea destination from Birmingham Airport

9 January 2018 –TUI (formerly Thomson) the UK’s largest holiday brand, has today announced it has added an additional weekly flight to the popular Egyptian destination of Hurghada for summer 2018 operating out of Birmingham Airport.

Holidaymakers from the Midlands will now have even more choice when it comes to booking a holiday to Hurghada with TUI adding a Friday flight to the summer flying programme. Flights start in May 2018 and will now operate twice a week on a Monday and Friday.

The decision to add more flights is part of the holiday company’s plans to offer as much choice as possible, ensuring customers across the UK can fly from their local airport and stay at the best hotels such as the 5T TUI Magic Life Kalawy.

As well as additional flights to Hurghada residents from in and around the Midlands now have a wide choice of destinations to choose from when booking their holidays this summer with the new route to Podgorica in Montenegro already on sale.

Karen Switzer, Director of Aviation Planning for TUI UK & Ireland, said: “We are delighted to be expanding our programme from Birmingham Airport for summer 2018. We have added a Friday flight to Hurghada meaning we now fly twice a week to the Red Sea destination and with this additional flight customers can now book 10 or 11 night holidays. In total we have over 62 routes for customers to choose from when booking their holidays from Birmingham Airport. Holidaymakers in the Midlands will now have wider access than ever before to our diverse collection of destinations and hotel concepts.”

William Pearson, Aviation Director of Birmingham Airport said: “It is great news that TUI is adding additional capacity to Hurghada for Summer 2018. This complements the 62 routes that TUI has to over 27 countries, offering even more exciting destinations to passengers flying from Birmingham Airport.”

I can't really impress more how good the TUI schedule is for summer 18 and although it might be seen as picking at the carcass of Monarch at least like Jet2 they have stepped up to the plate.

I assume they have awarded Freebird the bulk if not all of the third party flying to Turkey and good timings in terms of Antalya.

Monday FHY644 Bodrum in 20.40 out 21.40 29 MAY - 3 Sept

Tuesday FHY652 Dalaman in 08.25 out 09.25 22 May all season but might subject to change in October

Tuesday FHY636 Antalya in 14.30 out 15.30 May all season but might subject to change in October

Friday FHY692 Antalya in 14.30 out 15.30. May all season but might subject to change in October

Air Malta still showing Tuesday KM174/5 21.45 out but the KM website shows it a bit earlier and in Google flights it shows as two separate flights (KM74/5) which I am sure will be merged at some point and is just an error since TUI flights have only just been recently added to Google Flights.

TUI also use Flybe to Verona on a Saturday BE9170 12.20 - 17.40 and Salzburg Saturday BE9415 15.55 - 20-.45

The only away based flight spotted is Thursday Malaga TOM7484/5 in 12.45 out 14.25.

The 787 is fully based from mid July 7 flights although for 2 days (Monday and Tuesday?) it is in Scotland in June and part of July.

All of the above is subject to change.

I believe the above information was originally posted by OltonPete on the other forum this morning, just saying as I think it's good practice to always mention the source of information even if it isn't an official announcement (y)

jfy1999 - I know OltonPete well so no problem in posting this here

I think this may be a first - there are 2 TUI Dreamliners currently flying from BHX to Sanford... One is a -8, whilst the other is the -9. Anyone know if these are both scheduled/charter flights or is one of them a positioning flight?

Looking at the BHX departure list and aircraft flight history on FR24 I can only see G-TUIL flying as BY630. G-TUIF arrived this morning from MAN with the same call sign but according to the FR24 aircraft history it is still at BHX, as is G-TUIA which arrived from Helsinki around 03:30.

All their other 788's seem to be off elsewhere but as well as SFB FR24 is showing a flight to Cancun (BY458) that was due to depart from BHX this morning and is now marked as delayed so one of those two 788's may be operating it under the wrong call sign?

I've just checked flight radar again and the -8 has changed to Cancun. Still nice to have 2 TUI 787's departing BHX at similar times.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
