It was because the only KLM DC9 I ever saw at Birmingham (old terminal ) was a series 30 diverted from Heathrow.

Following my mention of G-JOEY in the 'Route Development and Rumours' thread, I found this -

Which I love. The attention to detail is outstanding. Even having 3-bladed props on the wing engines and a 2-bladed prop on the tail. I only wish they'd got the tail fin a little higher.

Had a couple of diecasts arrive yesterday
This humble Laker one eleven is probably the pride of the collection so far as it's very rare. In fact I didn't realise aeroclassics had even produced it. It is also important in that it represents the only Laker aircraft I ever saw when one was diverted to Birmingham from I think Manchester in 77 /78 ? It came as half of a twin set with a Laker Caribbean 'short' 707/130 View attachment 4202 View attachment 4203

Hi there ray and all, don't know whether is news I have just read and found about is on this topic, but according to the daily mail, the guardian, the evening standard, express, independent and sky news, that on the 22nd November last month it was reported that Mr Willie Walsh who is boss of I A G, which includes British Airways, has now just found out to his horror that B A head office is now right in direct line of the flight pace of the third runway at Heathrow, furious with the airports commission and heathrow airport that he wasn't properly notified or consulted on this massive issue at all, but to his horror also B A will be fully build for the demolition costs. Now to me, this sounds like a massive opportunity for Mr Kehoe and Birmingham City council leader and Solihull Metropolitan borough council leader, for the three of them to get together in dialogue talks in trying to persuade Mr Willie Walsh at I A G to relocate and build B A new Hq near Birmingham airport in the west midlands, as he's been stabbed in the back by heathrow airport in not informing him of 3rd runway location, this coo for Birmingham could be massive if all both councils and the airport could try and find the land big enough for B A to relocate to the west midlands, if B A could be persuaded, then this would serve as a massive dent in heathrows relationship with B A, and of with hopefully the B A city flyer that might be based is where Mr Kehoe is going to need all of his experience in trying to pull off a massive master stroke with this... Loved this livery. It was so unusual to see a Trident not in BEA/BA livery. Was lucky enought to see it posing at Heathrow
amongst the other Tridents.
Whats next on your list? Northeast Viscount or Cyprus Aiways Trident?

Never saw the northeast trident but believe it did come to Birmingham a couple of times . Not sure what I'll get next, still looking for red tail BA 747 and Tristar plus a Qantas 747/100 as seen at Birmingham in 1978 .

Found another Dan Air One Eleven View attachment 4266 in the later seventies livery to replace the late sixties white tailed version which can now go to auction .
I flew on Dan-Air BAC One-Eleven G-BDAE in the '70's scheme. I estimate it would have been Feb 1978. A great flight, on which I got a flightdeck visit on the out bound leg. The same aircraft was used for the return.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
