The Wizz base that came close a couple of years ago would have been 4 aircraft. I remain very sceptical that the terminals could cope with that at peak times if we also want growth from Jet2, Ryanair, easyjet etc.......

Keep the away based routes coming and we'll have a base once Macquarie have built us their shiny, brand new, state of the art terminal 😆

Well I’ve been blocked by Sean M for posting the same post 10 minutes before him.

So can’t access any more of his posts

The Wizzair Abu Dhabi operation opened in October 2020. Recently, they have announced the closure or suspension of most of their European routes. Sadly they have now announced they are winding up operations in September.

Both Ryanair & Wizz have done Warsaw and both with a good schedule, howver, the airlines know the markey and it appears Romania is now where the decmend is and not Poland

Romania a massive market with up to 29 weekly flights across two operators main route:Bucharest 14 weekly
Poland has 24 weekly flights across 3 Carriers. Main route:Krakow 16 weekly

Would like to see Wizz expand more.Be interesting if they deliver more this winter and into next year

Adding Sibiu,Sucueva and Rome and Added Frequencies to Budapest,Bucharest and Craicova goes to show how interested bhx is in Wizz.Reckon we will have a base by 2027

sorry Ant, can't see any Wizz base in the next few years, we dont have the room, and BHX would rather have their based airlines, Jet2, Ryanair & Easyjet expand instead, plus Wizz engine issues will go on for several years yet, most likely to have more away based aircraft, & also Wizz can equally drop a route, as well as start a new route, so no one on here will know whats instore for BHX!

Wizz Air I expect to have a few more routes lined up for example I had Gdansk and Katowice in mind.
What are you expecting Matt?

I would also suggest that the terminal is currently near to capacity which will take time to address. The busiest times are when the morning and afternoon flights with those based aircraft leave and return. If there are to be new/more based aircraft, I suspect their airport will prioritise those airlines with existing bases rather than new basis.

However, in the meantime and whilst the airport is investing in the terminal, the opportunity is increasing capacity, flights and routes between those peak times. In my view, this is the real opportunity for Wizz at BHX in building its market operating away based aircraft. to key destinations.

I think thee is a lot of opportunity for Wizz at BHX but lets not get too excited about a based just yet. Wizz have not even returned to the capacity they flew out of BHX a few years ago and even then we didn't get a base, and the eastern european market wizz thrive in is a lot smaller now in the UK than i was back then thanks to Brexit.

Heres hoping there maybe another new routes or two on the horizon with Wizz as their aircraft come back online but lets wait and see.

Would Wizzair Hungary be allowed a base in UK? I would have thought only Wizzair UK would do that. They do not seem very interested in moving outside LTN and LGW and many of their routes are in direct competition with EZY and RYR. We should be careful what we wish for!

Reminder Mate that Wizz air have gained back its base from Abu Dhabi so there’s potential

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
