I suspect the reason nothing is available quite yet from an easyJet perspective is that they are waiting to see what happens re: Green list and travel & what not. They will want to pounce on anything that will make decent revenue and profit. They are also always the late comer for releasing flights sometimes.

There is also the potential fly in the ointment. That being the T3 rumour of LBA - BHD. That seems to have gone quiet but WH did report from the ACC meeting that they were hopeful of T3 announcing route expansion in due course. It’s nice to be able to genuinely speculate after the doom and gloom of the last 16 months

I asked Aer Lingus about the Leeds-Dublin route the other day via a private message. The following is the reply I got back from them.

Hi there, some routes are under review or have been reduced due to the current situation. As soon as we have any info on these routes we will update our website and social media. Apologies for the inconvenience.

We look forward to welcoming you back onboard in the future!

Well it's finally official. Aer Lingus has today signed a 10 year franchise deal with Emerald Airlines starting from January 2023 to operate regional routes using fleet of ATR aircraft.

Taken from ch-aviation this morning:

Emerald Airlines (Ireland) (EAI, Dublin Int'l) plans to begin regional franchise operations for Aer Lingus(EI, Dublin Int'l) on March 27, 2022, nine months earlier than previously intended, ch-aviation schedule analysis has revealed.

While the flights are not yet bookable through Aer Lingus's portal, Emerald Airlines plans to deploy its ATR72-600s under the Aer Lingus Regional brand on cross-Irish Sea routes out of Belfast City, Dublin Int'l, Cork, and Shannon as follows::

  • out of Belfast: Birmingham Int'l (23x weekly), Edinburgh (19x weekly), East Midlands (16x weekly), Exeter (daily), Leeds/Bradford (16x weekly), and Manchester Int'l (25x weekly),
  • out of Dublin: Aberdeen Dyce (6x weekly), Bristol Int'l (18x weekly), Edinburgh (27x weekly), Glasgow Int'l (30x weekly), Leeds/Bradford (17x weekly), and Newcastle, GB (daily),
  • out of Cork: Bristol (5x weekly), Edinburgh (daily), and Glasgow (4x weekly), and
  • out of Shannon: Edinburgh (3x weekly).

A further post in the other forum states that Emerald Airlines are denying that the information published earlier reflects their start-up plans.

Whilst I hope the news above is true I’d of thought Emerald themselves would announce this before news articles get hold of it.

So I’ll be waiting for Emerald to formally announce it.

Aer Lingus operated by "Emerald" flights to Belfast City & Dublin are now showing on the Aer Lingus website timetable section. All currently remain unbookable.

It’s not been fully confirmed yet. But Emerald are planning to operate Dublin-Leeds/Bradford in Summer 2022. The flights should be on sale very soon.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
