Morning Guys, had a really good night sleep. WOW what a bonkers 24 hours. :cool:

Barcelona airport is a plane spotters dream, everything is catered for and the weather was perfect, cloudy and warm untilb the afternoon and then nice sunny and very warm in the afternoon. I even managed to get 1 hour on the beach to get 1 hour of chill out time.

Right what im going to do is post my photos of my trip today on the relevant BHX Photo thread and the dedicated BCN photo thread that Aviador set up for me (y)but im not going to write a full page written trip report as everything and i mean everything is captured over the 24 hour period (Even me on the beach :joyful:) in my Plane spotters action packed video trip report. As i have lots of footage that i will now need to edit to make a proper good quality film for you guys, lol i expect that this will be available to watch next weekend. BUT IT WILL BE WORTH IT, im even excited myself to watch it as im still buzzing from yesterday.

Just a note of caution in case you are disappointed with the amount of photo's taken at BHX, as i was concerned with the fact that my battery would run out on both my Camera phone and Digital camera, i kept these to a minimum, however there is loads of video footage on my trip report.

I was very annoyed that my favourite seat 31F had a massive scratch on the window which is not very good when you are doing a trip report however i did the best i could and on my return there was no such issue, however most of my return flight was in the dark.

I was also concerned on arriving at BCN as we landed on Runway 7L which is the runway in between Terminal 1 and 2 and i was thinking to myself, OH NO im not going to get close up action of planes from the 2 x plane spotting locations that i wanted to visit. However my fears were laid to rest when i woke up yesterday morning and looked out of my hotel window and saw aircraft landing from the north which would of meant aircraft landing and taking off from Runways 25L and 25R, perfect for my video trip report and photos. (y)

Vueling airlines were really good and no issues at BHX.
 
Right then peeps, my photos are ready to view, some better than others but i took some with my mobile phone and some with my new digital camera to save the battery. I think you will know which ones are the better ones.

How was the flight with Vueling?

Hi Ray

I thought Vueling were brilliant, really friendly cabin crew and modern clean aircraft. I had no issues with them at all and would recommend them. The flights in and out of BHX were really busy. I would say about 90% going out and coming back it looked full. I think they have a great little route on BHX-BCN and plenty of people buying stuff on board which also helps with the yield.

Vueling are top dog at BCN, there are plenty of Ryanair and a few Easyjet but not as many as VY

I am pleased with it too apart from that really bad scratched window, it spoilt the flight from BHX-BCN but hey hoy what can you do about that.
 
Having managed to get a day return to Palma from Birmingham last September for £65 with Monarch just before they went bust I decided to see if it was still possible this year.I have not flown abroad this year since January due to surgery and a long recovery so was looking forward to a break.Having searched airline timetables and price comparison websites a day return out with Thomas Cook and back with Jet2 was possible on certain weekdays.The best price was for 11th October out 0600/0900 for £30 back 2110/2250 for £50 with extra for window seats and breakfast out.
I compiled a timetable for the day using FR24 and the AENA Spanish Airports website which gives arrivals for 24 hours ahead.It seemed busy all day except for around 4pm.So the day dawned and after arriving at BHX at 4am with no luggage was through security in about 10 mins and wandered the piers noting the based stuff and nightstoppers with only a Fedex 757F being of interest.I was hoping for an ontime departure and the boards duly showed a gate number 45 mins before 0600,this being a bus departure and as I got there boarding began.After everyone was on board(no spare seats seen) Airbus A321 G-TCDL we pushed back and departed on time.Good legroom for me(6ft 3in) and nice cooked breakfast made for a pleasant 2hr flight as we followed a BA A320 routing LGW-BCN over France with F-HBNH and EC-MBE seen routing North.Over Barcelona A330 EC-LVL of Air Europa flew over us 2,000 ft above routing MAD-MXP for a NEOS sub charter.Descended over the West coast of Majorca and landed over Palma Bay 5 mins early at 0925.
Arrived in Terminal A used by UK and non Schengen flights,B is domestic short haul and C/D for Schengen arrivals.Exited through the new E gates and walked over to the MSCP which gives views of the GA apron and take offs and landings when planes arrive over the bay.At about midday arrivals changed to come in from the North and were hard to see from here so decided to go back airside as I had my boarding pass printed.Security wasn`t too bad done in about 10 mins and as I had found a good spot last year headed for the C gates which at the far end 4 or 5 gates overlook the main taxiway between the 2 runways.All aircraft will taxi past at close range after landing or going to the take off runway so nothing is missed.Loads of German and Austrian planes as you would expect with biz-jets frequent.The 4pm lull allowed a break for a burger.The gates have power points for phone charging and water fountains are around to fill up an empty plastic bottle I had brought with me.As it was a clear,sunny day overflight were plentiful with traffic from/to MAD/BCN/ALC/VLC and between Europe and Africa.Aircraft inbound to IBZ routed overhead but were hard to see due to haze,no trail and filthy windows.There seemed to be loads going there from German airports using sub chartered planes such as Trade Air,Transavia France,Air Explore,ASL,Adria.It was very busy again late afternoon with many planes being seen 2 or 3 times during the day.With darkness falling at about 7pm I went back to the A terminal which has its own passport check for my return flight on 737-800 G-JZBB which had arrived ontime at 2010.Boading was done by row number in 3 stages and I had a window seat with 2 empty sets next door,the flight was about 75% full.Take off again bang ontime and landed BHX at 2245 noting the late night cargo arrivals,and through passport control E gates in 5 mins and taxi home 20 mins later.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.

Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
