Having just noticed, it seems the figure muddycoffee has for for January 10 is slightly out - 36,284 is the correct figure according to CAA statistics, making this months figure slightly over.

The Jersey figures are already out and added. 266, which is not very good, but is 80% up on Jan 2010!

It works out at about 56% load per flight. I suppose you could argue who would want to go to Jersey in January! ;)

Incidentally, a three-weekly service (Tues, Thurs, Sun) to Jersey resumes tomorrow, after having a 6-week hiatus - the last flight to Jersey was on the 6th January. The fourth frequency starts in May.

Sorry, I was thinking it was a 3 a week service through January, which did'nt look to be a good load factor. I guess it was 1 weekly through the month of January, which, makes 56% LF look more acceptable.

Thanks for the update to the figs. I have corrected my table

Can anyone point me to the direct link for the CAA stats ? I usually rely on other posters passing on the info, but I should really be able to access it myself by now!
:hatsoff:

You'll find the provisional statistics here towards the bottom:

http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid ... 1&sglid=11

Basically, just click on whichever month you require, and then "January 2011 Provisional Airport Statistics" in either Excel or PDF. Fairly straightforward once you're in.

For final statistics:

http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid ... =3&sglid=3

These are a bit more comprehensive so the information is spread across far more files. The one I use is "Table 09 Terminal and Transit Pax" to find out monthly passenger figures. The provisional stats don't include transit passengers.

According to latest CAA passenger statistics at total of 31,773 passed through Doncaster Sheffield Airport during February, -11.5% down on February last year.

Rolling year passengers stand at 871,745, up 8.3% on the previous 12 months.

Top 5... for Feb 2011

Tenerife South 3939 up 33%
Katowice 3331 down 27%
Alicante 2663 down 40%
Sharm El Sheikh 2371 down 19%
Gdansk 2279 down 35%

Not the airport's best February.. far from it.. bring on summer that's what i say.

Have you worked out how much the loss of Easyjet will be offset by new routes by the other airlines?

Around Two Thirds will be offset
One week in August will have
1512 seats from New Ryanair (Faro,TFS)
720 seats from New Wizz(Vilnius)
800 seats from New Thomas Cook (PMI,Antalya)
1722 seats from Additional Capacity from Thomson (This is on 737-800 replacing 737-300 on 3 flights a day)

Total New Seats 4754
6552 Easyjet Seats.

But it all depends on if the new routes are successful.
I am forgetting the Dublin but loads were never to good on that so they can be probably factored in with the LoadFactors on the AMS

To be operated by 757, so you can make that 940 seats ;)

Thanks Muddycoffee. Is that the worst February since the airport opened? That doesn't make good reading but at least the summer is going to bring a glimmer or hope that things will improve.

CAA Provisional Statistics March 2011Update

And it gets slightly Worse...
March has seen another bad month
Number of Flights- 315 down 0.9%
Total Passengers 39989 -Down 4.3%
Top 5...
Tenerife South 5849 UP 76.28%
Katowice 3946 DOWN 25.77%
Alicante 3455 DOWN 36.70%
Malaga 3155 DOWN 5.45%
Gdansk 3084 DOWN 23.26%

It's worrying that the Polish routes are still continuing in a downward trend. Alicante and Malaga should be performing well too. I can't imagine why Alicante would be down by 36.7%, were there less flights during March this year compared with March last year?

There's one less Alicante/Malaga flight per week than last year - an Alicante and a Malaga were 'combined' to form a new Arrecife flight. So it's inevitable that we'll be seeing decreases on those routes. I think there's also one less Katowice flight but don't hold me to that! It's going to be negative figures until at least Winter I'm afraid, due to the pull-out of easyJet. If the rumours of new Thomson flights and the other airlines turn out to be true, then 2012 should be a good year.

Gdansk,Katowice and Poznan were all down 1 flight a week in March.
Will Soon see if the downward trend is going to continue when we hit May as the summer flights have no change... Not Forgetting Ryanair has it's flights from LBA too.
But at least we will get some pluses in April!

It will be negative (overall) every month from at least April to December - this is the period both easyJet and Aer Lingus operated and the capacity gap has only been about 2/3 filled. Not only is it physically impossible (there are fewer seats on offer this year than last year), I would be extremely surprised to see a positive month! We'll just have to hope for plenty of diversions when LBA is inevitably fog-bound or windy :spiteful:

CAA Passenger Stats for March 2011

A total of 39,989 passengers used the airport during March down -4.3% Rolling year passenger numbers stand at 869,957 up 10.5% on the previous year.

I did not really make that clear... I meant with the Polish Routes as Gdansk,Katowice and Poznan all see no change in frequency this summer.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
