Any hint of new routes/airlines being part of a joint announcement for tomorrow?
I think that is still unlikely until the entire project is complete. The arrivals hall will be operating wih only three carousels initially. This might be until the CSZ moves to its new location and the new arrivals meet and greet is built.

Balloons, bunting and a freebies table are set up against the airside window. It's definitely tomorrow.
Hopefully plenty of pictures and footage to come.

I don't see why that would effect an announcement of a new airline or route as it wouldn't be taking off for 6 months+

Yes, only 3 carousels but each one is very big and the space around them is huge. It's a complete revelation compared to what we have currently.

It would certainly be good to announce something in terms of new airlines or routes on the day it goes live even if they don't actually start until 2026. It would also shut up some of the naysayers down the road in Doncaster.

I flew LBA-PMI-LBA yesterday for a beach day. Flew out with Ryanair(Lauda) at 10:20. Still a decent queue to security but one of the new boarding card scanning gates wasn’t working. The queue kept moving though and we were through in 25mins. Many bags were being rejected at the scanners because bags contained liquids over 100ml. New extension looks good. Downstairs is now all closed off with the escalators boarded off by where the old lounges were. Flight time of 2:12 down to Palma on a totally full A320. I bought my ticket 5 days prior for £24…quite a bargain I thought.
Returned with Jet2 at 23:30. Again totally full 737-300. I know certain members love to knock the 300’s but as a passenger you wouldn’t tell you were on a 25year old aircraft. Immaculate cabin. 2:20 flight time home and we landed 20mins early. I was looking forward to an easy walk to arrivals….oh how wrong was I
We parked on stand 4 or 5 ( I’m not good on stand locations at LBA ) We walked from the aircraft to the old arrivals door and up the stairs by the infamous non op escalator then turned right, along the corridor and down the 3 flights of stairs and back outside. Then walked up to the new arrivals entrance. Waited about 15mins in the immigration queue due to only 5 of the 8 desks open. Baggage reclaim was busy but it’s so much better than what we had before. Down the temporary corridor then outside via a ramp to the outside arrivals area. How is this going to work in the winter with the rain and snow? People stood out in the cold waiting for people to exit? All in all I was impressed with what I saw yesterday.

I watched a few KLM pax in suits get quite irate and shouty after having disembarked from the airbridge and finding themselves waiting in the bus shelter/outside in the rain whilst outbound pax blocked their entrance to arrivals. Needs sorting

You would hope LBA will construct a temporary shelter for people awaiting arriving passengers. (What I thought was a covered walkway outside the terminal front is infact just a temporary toilet block shelter).

Damned unlucky then give how rare a phenomenon rain is these days in these parts.

Good point, pretty much all spring and the start of summer has seen no rain and only the last few weeks has it been unsettled with some rain, oh and of course the day some of us met up at HF! Its a dry year for sure.

We couldn't face Eastern via AMS again when planning this trip so off we went to LHR on the LNER to fly to CPH and flew a BA 319 in Club to CPH. BA seem to be having the same issues with their ageing 319s as Jet2 are with the 733s. I wonder if part of the reason for them not returning to LBA is that the 319s will be no more later this year and a 320 is seems a stretch. Anyway BA reshuffled the 319s as a result of a technical problem and we had a 1 hour delay! The flight and crew were very good though.

Flew back HAM - MAN on EW - their biz product for a small surcharge is a nice product as you get the Club perks in the airport and a massive baggage allowance - flight delayed as HAM didn't have enough staff for the assisted pax so the captain ended up escorting a frail lady up the gangway - what a really nice chap - so we could get away.

I see a lot of negativity about LBA on this forum of late so have not contributed so much - quite frankly MAN is a sprawling mess - the walkway to the station was closed partly, the walkways not working, poor signage and explanation and the T2 extension looks cheap - LBA are doing a far better job at being customer focussed and deserve to get a few lucky breaks like EW who I rather liked!

Sorry to hear that. There isn't a lot I can do about it as the community can come and go as it pleases just as you have. I think rather than negativity it's more a case of frustration, particularly with the planning situation and so on. Hopefully good times will come again but we shouldn't forget how well our little airport is doing all things considered.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
