I noticed they opened a new base in Prague and with all bad news here recently i think that could be a potential PIK route im not sure how well its served from Scotland these days

As far as I know, the only Scottish route to Prague at the moment is operated by Jet2 from Edinburgh.

Wizz still have a decent relationship at Prestwick so fingers are crossed

Wizz Air's Prague expansion is based largely on serving the need of Czechs. Add in the fact that the city break market seems to be declining and I cant see Wizz starting PIK-PRG anytime soon
I never said anytime soon and the person in charge of Prestwick has been quoted as saying there isnt any increase from operators in 2009, i just stated future potential

Wizz Air has axed flights to Katowice and Poznan. The flights are no longer bookable on the airlines website. Flights to Warsaw have been reduced to three times a week operating on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday's.

Coming on top of Ryanair's savage Prestwick route cuts from the winter timetable, these reductions by Wizzair are the last thing PIK needs. The strange thing about the axing of the Katowice route is that one of Ryanair's many routes being axed from PIK is that to Krakow, which is not too far from Katowice geographically. You would have thought that the Katowice service would have seen an upturn in passengers with the axing of Ryanair's Krakow route.

I think rather than the Ryanair excuse of excessive airport charges at Glasgow Prestwick it's more likely a case that the Polish workers have simply returned home in large numbers because of the recession. There's probably no longer the demand for air services to Poland that there were twelve to eighteen months ago. Consolidation of the weaker routes to concentrate on the Capital service to Warsaw seem the obvious thing to do at times like this. That's my assumed guess anyway. Hopefully the services can resume once the economy picks up but economic migration from Poland is unlikely to ever become as popular as it was before the recession.

I was only going on the fact that FRs flight to BUD is busy and the only direct flight from Scotland

Major cut backs at Warsaw i hear from October including our route very sad

Bad news if that's true. Do you think FR might operate the route instead?

It would be good but they have decided i think to concentrate on mostly bucket n spade routes after Globespan demise

dug,

I agree entirely.

easyJet pulled all their Warsaw routes two or three years ago, despite very high load factors on most. Ryanair don't fly to WAW for the same reason.

Wizzair recently pulled a proposed Bristol-Warsaw route only seven weeks after advertising it so it might be that the situation vis-a-vis them and the airport has deteriorated.

After a look at the Wizz site PIK to WAW is now on sale for winter :yahoo:

That's good news. Lets hope they can see it through without cancelling it at the last minute.

Agree Aviador its down to twice weekly but at least its still there

[textarea]Glasgow Airport poaches Polish flights from Prestwick

The European airline Wizz is switching two of its services from Gdansk and Warsaw from Prestwick to Glasgow Airport.

Wizz Air said the move to Glasgow would be more "convenient" for existing customers and was a "a step towards future passenger and route growth".

The carrier began operating flights between Scotland and Poland more than six years ago.

It leaves Ryanair as the only scheduled passenger airline using Prestwick.[/textarea]

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
