Having dropped down from three Ryanair 737s to one over the last week or so STS are back up to three in for winglet conversion following the arrival of a Max this evening from Bergamo.

Do Max's need winglet conversion?

Don’t they already have those winglets?
Yes, the B737 MAX's are built with winglets. For those interested, the aircraft is 9H-VUR and arrived at approx 18:30 as RYR990. According to Ian's blog, it is due for STS, so being a MAX, unless it has a damaged winglet it must be there for another reason.

Good business but my goodness becoming a boring facility. With I suspect dozens of Ryanairs to come through our STS hangar for the new scimitar winglets..bring back MAEL !

I agree, it has become extremely boring. What happened to all the A330's that STS Birmingham was getting? But then, looking at STS MAN, they seem to have mostly BA A320 types.
MAN STS started well 1st movement was an ITA A350 !

Part of their MAN facility is to become a B777 passenger to freight conversion centre. They should get some interesting ones in for that Although I think each one takes 4-5 months to complete.

STS already have a Max in their hanger 9H-VUQ so last nights arrivals 9H-VUR makes it two currently with them and from memory I think there has been at least one more thats visited since the retro fit programme started.

The Max does indeed have the scimitar type winglet fitted as standard so maybe as Kevin stated its something related to the modifications.

If folk think the facility has become boring just imagine what Stansted is like with its endless stream of Ryanair traffic.

By the way the Hans A332 or maybe ex Hans A332 is back over with STS maybe being prepared for return to its owners.

At the moment it's one in and one out. As VUR arrived, VUQ left. Stay for four days and it'll be off again. I've no idea why, but I'm thinking it's general maintenance and not winglets related 🤔

Manchester gets the Cebu Pacific A330 next week into their STS Hangar. Also talk that STS may purchase the 2nd hangar there for overnight maintenance.

Yes but they get lots of Pegasus, getting Tueknenistan and widebodied BBJs too

True, but they also get lots of other interesting airlines.PLAY,Wideroe,Pegasus,Tunis Air.Rurkmen starting,Asiana,Cargolux,TK and Qatar cargo, UPS,Fed Ex ,lots more and widebodied BBJs.

I see Ryanair have sent in another Max in over the weekend 9H--VUS swopped for 9H-VUR f/t Bergamo.

STS are beginning to churn them over whatever it is that they are doing to them.

It's just the 738-800s having scimitar winglets fitted as the Max already has them factory fitted as Karl says so presumably something else.

All good work though for STS and its employees and hopefully the start of long a term business relationship given the size of Ryanair's fleet.

Bet its a tight price though? 😃

STS Manchester may need the extra hangar, as they are to be a B777 passenger to freighter conversion centre.
Should get some good movements out of that once set up.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
