Yes JENNYJET they certainly do well with the A330s currently having two in their care but also plenty of other types currently they also have five 737s of various marks including the three semi resident Wedgtails 737s for the RAF.

Indeed, the E7 Wedgetail is a significant contract with the Americans watching the RAF and RAAF as users since Congress has yet to commit to E3 replacement for USAF.

I would not be suprised to see BHX a Boeing base and Manchester an Airbus in general
as BHX seems to have picked up Ryanair plus the wedgetail whereas Man has always specialised in Airbus.
Thats just my thoughts so we shall have to wait and see

Time will tell on that, but I would say so far the majority of aircraft using STS Birmingham have been Airbus types. There was a suggestion a while ago that STS Birmingham were going to concentrate on military aircraft, but nothing more has been heard.

Would be good for BHX to get regular military at STS, but I am mindful of the AIRTANKER built infrastructure currently undertaking Voyager ( A330) work for RAF at Brize Norton and other operators within the European NATO fleet. Once Wedgetails depart, will we ever see them again?

I do not know of what is happening at Manchester STS, that is Mullions domain but I wish them well.

I did answer are far as I know but it was deleted, I guess you will have to read the relevent forum on Manchester but the two
hangars may well be linked and share work or they may specialise, I guess within a couple of months we will get an idea

Mullion's original post was apparently deleted as it specifically refered to STS Manchester rather than Birmingham and thus was considered to not be correct for this thread.

And this is what irritates me most. Disruption of conversational flow being dictated by thread protocols, often necessary but sometimes annoying. Given the thread title ommited a geographical constraint, I posted.

The post deleted was simply a single sentence saying what the next aircraft due for MAN STS was. This info has already been posted in the MAN STS thread by another member. In the past, these sorts of antagonistic posts have come across as gloating over what one airport gets and the other doesn't. This has led to very heated debates over which airport/city is best and occasionally to the thread being locked. For these reasons, the post was deleted. Had it not already have been posted in the MAN STS thread, then it would have been moved there.

I agree with JENNYJET, too much moderation for my liking on these forums.

Just let people speak and talk about the subject, whether it is MAN STS or BHX STS, the 2 are going to overlap sometimes.

The last aircraft into STS was Ryanair 738 9H-QAF presumably for winglet modification (third one so far) arrived on December 23rd.

Currently the have six aircraft in their care so not bad with a B73M belonging to ACG Lease Co. a repossession from S7 airlines I believe plus the three semi resident Wedgetails along with the Hans A332 gathering cobwebs- wonder what's happening with them?

I don't know how many winglet conversions for Ryanair they are contracted for but potentially good bread and butter business over the coming months for them

I’m not sure if Ryanair have changed their plans but the number mentioned for winglet conversion some months ago was 409 B738s, not the Max aircraft which are delivered with different types, apparently. If STS get a fair slice of that then it’s great business for them. Other places expected to gain were given as Shannon, Kaunas and Malta. Another speciality STS can offer.

Right on cue Ryanair 738 9H-QAF departed BHX from STS this afternoon to Bergamo swapped with 738-QAG - keep em coming I say.
