Jet2 757.

One with winglets departed just as I arrived but I couldn't get the camera out fast enough to capture it.

Great pictures. What do you make of the Jet2holidays colour scheme compared with the standard livery?

It's the first time I've seen it in the flesh so to speak, I don't think it's horrendous but looks kind of cheap. Then again ever since I first saw it I've always thought the silver and red livery is fantastic, very smart. Are they all being changed or just the odd few?

From what I gather they are going to continue to have a mix of both liveries in the fleet. They've been having a PR drive with Jet2holidays so it make sense to have some aircraft in the holidays livery. As for the standard livery I love the ones with winglets the most. I'd love to see the grey replaced with a more metallic shiny silver look.

Ahh right, so they're trying to focus on packages more rather than just flight? Makes sense.

I've not seen any silver and red planes with the winglets myself but they do look good in the pictures I've seen.

some of my shots, taken either from Sutton Bonington or just next to the ILS lights:

awesome ! shame I didn't catch an124 though :/

cheers lads, I just quickly checked that viewing spot near aeropark. Could someone say a word or two if it's worth going to the aeropark itself ? I'm not interested in display there (or maybe will 😀 ) but I'm wondering what's the view from there ? I want to catch the 'touchdown' or the moment when the plane is braking just after touching the ground, should be interesting motion pics. I just got 70-300mm lens so distance might be an issue, however I'm more concerned about the fencing and that wee hill there 🙁 thanks !

You might struggle with pictures of aircraft landing on runway 27 but you should be able to get some good shots when 09 is in use. I used a 200mm lens for these shots which stretched the camera to it's limits but you should be fine with a 300mm lens.

The Aeropark has a couple of mounds for viewing the airfield so with a 200mm lens or greater you should manage a few decent shots.

Hey 😀 I was gone for about a year ... but now with new gear I am going to slowly be back at photographing planes. I think I saw a few pics of the cargo planes parked up, literally photo looks like taken by someone standing next to the fence. Kind of cool Idea BUT would the security pick up on someone walking near the fence or trying to take such pics ? Trouble is something I would rather avoid :dirol:

Hey, good to see you back.

I've poked many a camera lens through the fences at BHX and seen many others doing the same and I've not had any trouble. If you're not on private land and don't do any damage then I imagine you will be OK. On the EMA website I think I saw a walk that skirts the perimeter fence so I'd imagine if it's advertised in such a way they'd expect people to be wandering about.

I look forward to seeing the pictures :good:

BUT would the security pick up on someone walking near the fence or trying to take such pics ?

Security personnel have no jurisdiction whatsoever away from any airport property in the UK so if you're outside photographing the airport they can't stop you.

No civil airport in the UK is a Prohibited Place within the Official Secrets Act so far as I'm aware and if there was one it would be the police and not airport security people who would be responsible for dealing with any incidents.

The police of course could take an interest if you were photographing from outside the airport anyway if they wanted to ensure that pictures weren't being taken that might have a terrorism bearing but that's not likely with 'ordinary' enthusiasts, although on occasions officers might decide to satisfy themselves of a photographer's bona fides.

Thanks guys, the weather is effectively killing any will to go out with camera. Driving by the airport today I spotted the Antonov parked up. Does anyone know when is it due to depart ?

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
