BHX on Boxing Day (with ATC) by David Holman:

I also decided to post another of his videos from October as it includes unusually loud wake turbulence from a Ryanair plane (5:10 onwards):

Some nice spray from a Qatar Dreamliner.

Flugsnug captures a poor chap falling off a bench in Sheldon Country Park. Maybe he could blame the wake turbulence.

Wasn't she waiting for reasonably quiet air? Some while after going around there was quite a lot of wing vibration in the currents. They were probably concentrating on talking with the tower also rather than retracting the gear.

This is only repeating what I have been told, I'm not a pilot so I am happy to be corrected. Apparently if the go around is due to wind shear the aircraft configuration doesn't change until they are well clear.

Was just thinking you'd want the aircraft as 'clean' as possible when attempting a go around at such a critical phase ie flare when airspeed is at a premium. Like you I'm no pilot so am probably completely wrong !

EK40 had a really short takeoff in that video @jfy1999
Modern aircraft just don't seem to need the runway length however big they are.
I remember being in Sheldon Country Park in the 90's when the G8 summit was in Brum.
A USAF B707 (Air Force 2?) i think was carrying Hillary Clinton took off.
It is the only time i think i have involuntary ducked.

That's the wonders of high bypass ratio engines.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
