I think that it is a sign that the airlines think that the "economy" has improved enough for people to book more business/leisure trips.

Given the expansion going on at other airports I think the signs have been there for sometime. It just takes Leeds so long to catch up. We'll get there in the end.

It seems like an eternity since we had any rumours or confirmed routes so let’s hope something comes to fruition .

I was actually starting to think that LBA must have put an “out of the office” message stating please contact Doncaster or Manchester if you a potential new airline wishing to start services from Leeds lol

Good news Ryanair press release now issued regards record winter 2016/17 programme. Schedule is growing by 20% looking to carry 1.1 million passengers over the next 12 months plus they have just announced a new route from Leeds to Gran Canaria operating 2x weekly.

In addition, the growth in flight frequencies to Alicante, Krakow, Lanzarote and Tenerife will mean that next winter will see the largest ever winter Ryanair programme from LBA serving Leeds and the wider Yorkshire region."

That is an excellent programme from Ryanair. I doubt we'll see anything like that from Jet2.

Great news. Is it possible that Ryanair will be back with any other routes to Central/Eastern Europe/Scandinavia with non based aircraft or is the winter offering all we will have for the moment much as its welcomed??

Interesting to see Bradford minimalised in the latest press release image!? I note LBA are using this vantage point from the Hilton Doubletree in Leeds more and more for press releases.

We don't want another based aircraft, but more flights from other bases when the airport is quiet.

There are press reports circulating in Greece that Ryanair are cutting short some of their programme to Greece by as much as 2 months this summer. Their flights from LBA to Kos was one of those mentioned with the flights ending on 2 October. Other airports affected are Liverpool, Stansted, Bournemouth and East Midlands. Flights to Rhodes were also mentioned as being affected by this early, previously unscheduled, change.

It seems as they are in dispute with the airports concerned who haven't apparently given them what they wanted. Nothing new there then!

I can't see anything on the Ryanair website about this as yet so maybe it will get sorted. Hope so for those who have already booked (and paid) for their flights. Is anyone able to add anything more in this?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. The news items can then be shared on the site homepage by you. #TakePart #Forums4airports Bring the news to one place!
survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
