Hull CityFan, must be terribly British and correct you, those arent W Patterns.

An example of a W pattern would be (real life example from this summer) EDI - PRG - LBA - PRG - EDI.

I think DUB depending on the day is W pattern. STN-DUB-LBA-DUB-STN or EDI-DUB-LBA-DUB-EDI. Especially in summer. (well winter DUB most if not all are LBA based)

Great news about the 3rd based plane next Summer and the extra routes. Unfortunately FR have always wanted to get into manchester as there are obviously rich pickings to be had but LBIA can still be a major FR hub this side of the pennines for the whole of Yorkshire, lincolnshire and the north east.

We can also hope that our routes dont duplicate manchester's totally and therefore we will attract passengers wanting the lowest fares from the north west too.

It looks as though the airport route team and management are really trying to encourage more routes from the airport even in these difficult times, which is to be commended. They realise there really is a lot of untapped potential here at LBIA.

Now we really need to see terminal and apron developments on a not small scale to cement and drive this route growth, which is why i am waiting bated breath for the new owner's airport MASTERPLAN REVIEW but that is for a different thread.

I am starting to wonder if we might get the Knock service back. The only reason I say that is that the dried plum brigade are talking of an announcement due of new routes from Knock. The strange thing though is that Knock remains on both the drop down list and route map for LBA over a month since it was canned.

Knock and Nantes will be dropped.

Riga, Kaunus, Tenerife, Kos, Bergamo, Chania, Corfu, Dinard will be new

In addition, Malaga, Dublin and Krakow look set to get an extra weekly service. Palma is showing as 5 x weekly as well, so that might represent an extra service compared to this summer (was it 4 x weekly this summer?)

Why is the Alicante flight the only one that is not in sale yet? You don't think it will be dropped do you?

Congratulations to the Ryanair flightdeck crew who landed the Thursday lunchtime flight from KRK in conditions that were just horrendous. The touchdown was amazing after a buffeting sideways approach.
Well done gentlemen.

Hi

I hear that the ryanair Leeds-Alicante route for next summer season will be released on sale tomorrow and will now be operated by Leeds based aircraft instead of been operated by non based aircraft. It also looks like service is been reduced in frequency from been a daily operation last summer back to been either 3/4 weekly service only.

Meanwhile to compensate the drop in frequency I hear that ryanair may add extra flights from Leeds to nearby Murcia. The Leeds to Murcia route was on sale at 3x weekly earlier this afternoon, But it was taken off sale this evening along with most other ryanair UK routes to Murcia.

It also looks like Ryanair may have dropped its Humberside-Alicante service for next summer.

I've heard rumours of the same sort of arrangement re Alicante and Murcia for some other airports.

Seems Ryanair haven't resolved their differences with the Alicante management re air bridges.

Interesting link re ALC and routes axed/reduced

I don't know how successful that would be for Ryanair. San Javier (and soon Corvera) really serve the Murcian region for second homes and is used as a commuter service for most. Alicante also does this, but on a much smaller scale and is primarily used to access the northern Costa Blanca.

Looking at the demographics of Ryanair's flights to Alicante - cutting Alicante flights and increasing Murcia flights will simply loose them money. Lets put it this way, 90% of Ryanair's Alicante passengers are going to Benidorm, simple as. Putting on more flights to Murcia will not work, Murcia is useless for serving Benidorm. Hence why Ryanair do not fly to Murcia in winter from most airports and Jet2 only fly twice a week. It simply is not a mass market.

Ryanair's spat with Alicante is becoming a running joke now, it is mainly for the media coverage and yet again an excuse to cut routes that really do not make them much money. Lets be honest, if Ryanair were REALLY making THAT much money from these routes, the last thing they would do is cut them for no reason. Its amazing how they keep getting away with what they do, lets face it, every single large hub they fly into... Dublin, Stansted, Girona, Manchester .... etc etc they have a spat with because either the subsidies, funding or whatever dry up once the carrot has been dangled. It would be interesting to see what prices they would have to charge to make a profit if all their funding stopped. Some how I think they would make BA look low cost.

Ryanair now have the Leeds - Alicante route back on sale. It looks as the service has been reduced from a daily operation last summer to a 4x weekly service next summer operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays & Sundays. All flights will be operated by Alicante based aircraft arriving LBA at 08:35 and then departing back out at 09:00

The Leeds to Murcia route was showing 3x weekly operated by Leeds based aircraft but it has since been taken off sale. It wouldn't surprise me now to see this service been increased by an extra couple of weekly rotations.

Over the next couple off weeks due to Christmas and New Year's ryanair are running extra flights to Gdansk on a Tuesdays and Krakow on Mondays using the Leeds based aircraft that would otherwise be doing nowt sat around.

Flight to riga on xmas day. I hope it's either a MISTAKE on LBIA'S part, or that the crew operating this get something for doing it (triple pay (sector/hourly), higher commision etc). Certainly would point blank refuse to do it if i wasn't getting something extra.

I can confirm it is a mistake. No flights are bookable on the Ryanair website anyway and I do believe that LBA is expecting no flights that day.

I Believe thats actually 0710 on Boxing Day seems as the live departures page doesnt differentiate between days. :good:

Do we know what's happening with the Murcia route?

This was one of Jet2's core markets in Spain but due to the dire property Market flight have been cut year on year. (was daily 757 service a few years ago, now 6 x 737 service) does anyone know if Ryanair will up the MJV flights to compensate for the near 50% ALC reduction?

Here's an update on what Ryanair currently have planned for LBA next summer. As we all know this scheduled could change quite a bit before March 22nd so don't read to much into it.

Murcia is not currently on sale and the route has not been dropped. These are the timings that I hadbefore they were removed from sale 2 weeks ago.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
