No weather issues at all in the London area today. I'm currently watching the sun set in West London with hardly a breeze in the sky

I was in Heathrow on Sunday awaiting my flight back oop North and have to say that the number of cancellations and severe delays was absolutely staggering. Of course, confidence is going to continue to drop in BA if their performance on a fair weather day is at the level I saw and has been reported. On another note, the lunchtime flight was about two thirds full. The southbound flight on Friday lunchtime was about half full.

Interestingly, that is the first time I have been in LBA on a Friday lunchtime in summer. All I can say is that it was absolute chaos with so many conflicting passenger movements delaying boarding and disembarking aircraft. I sat for 45 minutes watching the painful debacle that was the boarding of the Paris flight before being called forward to board my own. Even then, a traffic light system had to be put in place to let us board and arrivals walk to border control. The organisation was astonishingly bad. It made the whole "free fastrack security" feel very ironic.

Suspect weather. I was at Farnborough today and there was a prolonged period of heavy rain, which moved off towards heathrow. Downpour was so bad whole of farnborough event was closed at approx 14:00 and everyone had to go home.

Even then, a traffic light system had to be put in place to let us board and arrivals walk to border control.

The traffic light system is a standard day to day thing at LBA. With so many flights coming in and going out at the same time and the lanes used are used for both departures and arrivals this is the only way to handle the amount of traffic passing through.

Both yesterday and today's cancellation have been caused by reduction requests from ATC to various carriers at LHR. There was significant disruptive weather in the south east region yesterday and today, and ATC requests the reductions as a preemptive measure. BA being the biggest carrier at LHR cancelled a few flights yesterday and today based on the request and unfortunately LBA has been in the list.

It is a bit annoying and I agree it doesn't help to encourage regular users of the route.

Booked LBA - Houston and return on BA in October. Timings not ideal and always the spectre of unreliability hanging over us - but the price was very competitive and even better as I had Avios to spend! The saving seems worth the speculation - for the moment!! Fingers crossed eh??? Extra luggage bins a bonus - wife does not travel light!!

Right this all comes from a very reliable source. So don't shoot me down if it doesn't come off, as I'm only the messenger!

Rumour has it British Airways are going to make some changes to the London Heathrow operations within the next few weeks. This includes flight schedule changes and route expansion to both short haul & long haul operations.
How this will effect regards the LBA shuttle remains to be seen! But I hear BA now also have deal in place with the nearby Marriot Hotel..

Put the 2 together what do you get??

July's Heathrow traffic figures seem to indicate a decline in numbers from most of BA's operations, eg. Man -11%, Glas -13% Ncl -7% whilst LBA remained virtually the same as last year. I wonder if BA will reduce some capacity on these routes and introduce a 4th rotation and night stopper on LBA.! I am sure that would enhance the LBA/LHR route no end.

If LBA is lucky then it could get a night stopper which my sister will be happy about as it will mean no more 4 hour train journey to London!

What is amazing is the size of the jump in pax in September compared to all other months. Only one previously, in September 15 has the route broken 15K, so to get nearly 17K is exceptional. I wonder what it is about September that brings a spike in passenger numbers?

I don't know if it still takes place but the annual Harrogate Carpet Fair used to be held every September and British Midland frequently carried significantly more passengers on LBA-LHR during this time.

Having used the service twice in October with all flight being well patronised, I would hope / expect the October figures to also be pleasing on the eye.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
