Monarch announce summer 2016 Leeds Bradford Airport flights

The article says 80% of the airlines schedule has been released for summer 2016 but with more flights and destinations to follow.

The article says destinations now on sale for next summer from Leeds Bradford include Alicante, Barcelona, Dalaman, Faro, Larnaca, Mahon, Majorca and Tenerife.

I wonder if the remaining routes have been withheld because of the Greek crisis?

Monarch Airlines don't operate any Greek routes from LBA, Well not since they dropped Crete Heaklion last year. Just Naples and Antalya routes missing from been currently on sale from what I can see. More interested with the last sentence "Further flights and additional routes will be added to the summer 2016 schedule in the coming months".

I think the Naples route will be quietly dropped and replaced with something else as I have heard rumours of some city routes been added. Or maybe we might see a possible 3rd based aircraft for next summer, Now that would be Nice!

I hope you are wrong on Naples LBAspotter, it's a place I have always wanted to visit. Notably it is the first time Naples has been served from LBA.

I was born in 74 so I'm too young to remember that far back. (It's a while since I've been able to say I'm too young to remember!) :D

But wouldn't Cyprus count as a Greek route as they fly to Larnaca?

If NAP is dropped I wouldn't be surprised if Jet2 pick the route up to expand in Italy especially after the latest events in tunisa (quite easily replace NBE with NAP). However I think we need more stands, better terminal infrastructure and easier road access before any of based airlines expand. So we'll just keep going round in a circle.

The Airport has also just issued the following press release regarding Monarch's summer 2016 programme from LBA

PRESS RELEASE Date of Issue: 30 July 2015

MONARCH AIRLINES LAUNCH NEW ROUTE TO MALAGA FROM LEEDS BRADFORD FOR SUMMER 2016

Monarch, the leading scheduled airline to leisure destinations, today added an additional 7 weekly flight frequencies to its summer 2016 schedule from Leeds Bradford Airport including a new route from LBA™ to Malaga.

Additional Leeds Bradford routes and frequencies now on sale for summer 2016 include;
Leeds Bradford to Malaga - new route – 3 x weekly flights
Leeds Bradford to Naples- 2 x weekly flights

The new summer 2016 schedule from Leeds Bradford also includes increased frequencies to Faro on the Algarve and Dalaman in Turkey with flights at sociable flight times; allowing customers to escape for a weekend or a longer break to some of Europe’s most popular leisure destinations.

Marjan Schoeke, Head of Network Development for Monarch Airlines comments: “Next year’s schedule (summer 16) offers more flights from our most popular destinations at Leeds Bradford as well as introducing a new route to Malaga on the Costa Del Sol. This follows the launch of our summer 2016 programme last month when over 80% of Leeds Bradford’s summer schedule went on sale.”

Tony Hallwood Leeds Bradford Airports Aviation Development Director said: "The introduction of Malaga from Leeds Bradford is a welcome addition to the Monarch route network serving the Costa Del Sol region for holidaymakers and overseas property owners alike. The continuation of the Naples programme for Summer 2016 means that the Amalfi Coast, Capri and Sorrento will once again welcome visitors from Yorkshire whilst the additional flights added to Faro and Dalaman will mean that Monarch will offer increased choice across 10 sun and city destinations from Leeds Bradford.’’

Monarch Summer 2016 programme is available to book from 30th July 2015 at www.monarch.co.uk
Monarch flights from Leeds Bradford® will operate to 10 destinations across 5 countires in Summer 2016 to Alicante, Malaga, Barcelona, Majorca, Menorca and Tenerife in Spain, Faro in Portugal, Larnaca in Cyprus, Dalaman in Turkey and Naples in Italy

I know that some will be unhappy we're not seeing a new route here and some will say there is too much capacity on the Malaga route from Leeds Bradford Airport. The stats show otherwise with over 62,000 travelling to Malaga from Manchester this May in comparison with Leeds which saw just over 26,000.

Lets face it, Airlines wont tale LBA seriously until LBA can punch it's weight on existing routes.

Great news for LBA and monarch with another hole in their network filled. I really like them and am glad to see them growing stronger as the weeks go by at LBA.

Hopefully they can sort their financial woes and have a positive future.

As a frequent user of the Leeds-Malaga route.
Since Ryanair became more user friendly for me, total seat allocation, priority booking, guaranteed cabin luggage etc, have yet to find a price that competes with Jet2 as Ryanair hold luggage costs so high.
I have just done a dummy booking with Monarch for the dates we have booked with Jet2 for next May and today Monarch is £18 dearer, we booked late May 2015 as soon as booking came on line. So Monarch are just price matching and a couple of months behind, the only advantage I would have got is the 7.05 departure time, our is 9.35am. The october school holiday costs seem very cheap on Monarch, may have to take advantage.

Monarch confirmed as operating an additional 7 weekly departures in summer 2016 over summer 2015.

Interesting quote from White Heathers update from the recent Airport Consultative Committee meeting she attended.

Does anyone happen to know where the 7x extra Monarch departures are going to operate to next summer and will they be operated by the LBA based aircraft or non based units? I only ask because as things stand it looks as though Monarch Airlines has 28x weekly departures on sale and planned again from LBA next summer 2016 which is the same as this and last year...

Can anybody make out what is going on with Monarch's April schedule?

it seems very strange for example Alicante is operating x7 weekly with x2 flights on a Thursday, however when you look at May it drops back to x3 weekly.

In April BCN goes up to x4 weekly from x3, then drops back to x3 in May

Is it just to fill the schedule up until May?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
