What if we were not to involve the airport in the venture (even though it would be situated on site)?

I'm not sure it would be possible to build a visitor centre on airport land without them knowing ;)

What they are essentially saying is, if a detailed business plan could be provided with in-depth financial information showing a sound investment then they may consider it after the runway works are completed. As it is, as far as they're concerned, they can make more money from car parking on the land available. Sadly they're probably right.

I think they'll probably make even more from having an aviation shop and the likes on hand. ;)

Still, it's not the end of the world yet. Still haven't got a response back from all those I emailed last week.

It just came to me, I wonder how good or convenient/possible the NCP car park over on the old Elmdon site near to hanger road would be, just a fantasy idea about having viewing facilities ontop with restaraunt, shop, wc etc, and parking on the level below, would be self contained and easy entrance.

It's a fantastic location. I could see viewing on level 8 with a couple of raised platforms back from the edge, leisure facilities on level 7 with 5 & 6 for parking. There are also a couple of empty units on the bottom now which could make an ideal shop/café. It would be an amazing view if the rumours of the old hangars being demolished are true. I wonder if NCP would be interested.

The only downside is the medevac flights would be in full view. They don't mind pictures being taken of the aircraft but in the past people have photographed the injured service personnel being taken off and the convoy of police/ambulances. Most regulars are aware of the sensitive nature of these but the general public may not be. It's only a small downside though which is easily overcome and I guess these flights won't go on forever.

Who does NCP come under for that car park, Birmingham or Solihull? could be worth contacting either with a covering letter etc.

Some original spotting facilities that were situated right down the western end near to where they used to park Boeing 707/VC10 etc so they didd'nt block the apron.

Those views aren't that bad. Just, it's really got to be close to the action/runway. If that's possible, then we're on to a winner.

I've got a few responses back - they require me to send in sponsorship proposals the long way however, either by the sponsorship form or by mail. So I'll have to do just that, or wait for all the responses to come in.

I got a reply from Emirates as a PDF file, and this is what they had to say:

Thank you for your proposal Birmingham Airport Aviation Viewing Park.

It has been forwarded to us for review and response as we are the department that is responsible
for evaluating such proposals.

Although your mission sounds very exciting indeed, at the present time, we are not taking and
additional sponsorships or partnerships. Hence, we regretfully decline your offer.

So they did at least like the idea, it was probably a case of right place, wrong time. Looks like I've got to send all my sponsorship proposals this way. Even if I have to put in random numbers when it comes to cash.

Hi Hassaan13

I'd be happy for you to use either of these pictures in any future correspondence asking for support. They were taken at the Manchester airport viewing park.

Incidentally, the Manchester viewing park has been advertising on Forums4airports through Google ads.

Top level of multi storey Idea...?

After spending an hour or so there yesterday (along with a few others) it seems a logical place for it. There's no need to alter transport infrastructure as it's already built, car parking included in the site already and the elevated position gives you a good overall view (possibly better if hanger 2 goes).

Google ads works on a combination of your previous internet history (searches/webpages etc) and also what is written on this forum to tailor make the ad banners to your needs.

So, you may have googled 'Manchester AVP' or similar, and the fact it is referenced on here, so the ad appears.

Just like if you were to do multiple searches for, lets just say b&q kitchens, all of a sudden you may find the majority of ad banners on sites you visit may contain an advert for b&q and/or kitchens.

Looks like the option now is to do it the long way when it comes to going for sponsorships - filling out the form.

I've had to make up the costs though.

I have not heard back from MCP yet about the old western side multi, Is it still owned and run by them? or a private contractor? had a few other ideas about investors but I will spill the beans when I get replies back as I dont want to raise hopes and worse look silly.

Out of interest what figure have you put down for costs?

They asked for a value, and I just put 500.

As I said, I just made them up, don't really have a clue in regards to the costs.

Why are you just making up costs? If you do this you will have 2 outcomes:

1) no one will take you seriously and therefore make your efforts a waste of time

Or

2) you will get someone who is interested, and then piss them off big time when the cost goes up from £500 to £10,000. £500 will not even cover your public liability insurance, let alone everything else.

Seriously now Hassan. I admire your enthusiasm but, you REALLY need to do some more research on this. You have been given many pointers for research on this and other sites but either you are ignoring the advice or you just cannot be bothered to do the research. The plan you seem to have adopted of just 'making things up' is not only going to waste your time but also damage any credibility of a viewing park project for those who are trying to make an effort.

Sorry if this sounds harsh but if your not going to do it properly dont bother at all.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
