St Athan - General thread

So apparently tomorrow St Athan will see 6 aircraft arrivals not all of them for Ecube. One of them will be an Easyjet A319 G-EZEG which has completed 32,787 flights and 46,978 flight hours in 15.8 years. I believe it's Easyjet's oldest A319.
Also apparently around the 9th November a Virgin Atlantic 747 will arrive for scrapping!

The VS B744 may have a large delay in scrapping. One was due to be taken out of service at the end of Oct but is still flying as from what I can gather, still has a pretty robust flying schedule.

even though 6 out of the 7 are for scrapping with eCube, some will have a visit at CaerdAv to have some of the components remember.

Alitalia flew overhead into St Athan earlier, there is almost more going on their than up the road.

Apparently the Virgin 747 might be arrive at St Athan on the 29th November.

It’s that time of ear after the busy period where airlines get rid of their dead wood.

Also those aircraft from failed operators and can’t find new leases / new buyers now going for the Chop too

The 4x A319s are all 18 years old, the B744 is 22 years old.

I wonder if this is for the paint shop that was proposed or to help Caerdav expand into regional aircraft as it can only take a 737 max size aircraft.

Unsure as it states it’s maintenance facility. The Paint facility was part of Middle East Investment do assume they would have to foot the bill themselves.

That's no different to other airports and airfields though.
The airfield is now under civilian control and I don't think the MOD have a presence there anymore.

Just looked and Wikipedia says there’s still a training squadron there. Think that’s it though. Is the MOD still the ultimate owner of the site however?
