DSA is B747 central at the moment plus many other freight aircraft operating through the airport, on a daily basis they is something interesting in! shame our runway was not a bit longer :(
Shame too then that the apron doesn't have room for 747s, and we don't have a freight handling company based here any more and despite LBA trying to attract one, nobody is interested in the current times. It would take a lot more than a runway extension to turn LBA into a freight airport.

You could make the runway as long as you want F2W but if you don't have the infrastructure in place to handle freight flights(handling agents, storage, equipment to load and offload the freight, personnel, apron parking space, road access, etc) then it's not going to happen.

Great minds think alike Heather!

i am aware WH and DAVE that we need more than just a longer runway lol just stating that atm donny is the place to be for exciting movements!

I would be just happy with movements - full stop. A single ATR72 to Belfast each day, six days a week, is as depressing as the situation and the weather. At the moment it seems that there are airports that have, and airports that don't have, and we clearly fall into the second category. The only plus is that its one more flight per day than we had in the first lockdown!

About to pass directly overhead((1240)-
USNavy C-130J 165161(CNV 6722), out of Sigonella heading North at 26000'
Clearly visible trailing

Not quite overhead, but I saw what looked like a 747 east of the airfield just under an hour ago. It was heading northwest at about 20,000 feet. Probably out of Doncaster or East Midlands.

Not particularly exciting but I saw a single piston light aircraft fly over LBA about an hour ago; easily done today as the airport is closed. It looked like a Piper Super Cub so I guess it was G-NNAC.

Cessna 150 G-BBKA overflew the airfield around 5.00pm,might be the one?.

More than likely Dave. I thought the one I saw had rounded wing tips which made me think of NNAC. Obviously not!

Heard but not seen, A.109 G-RAYN(Costock 9) just flown directly over airfield(0940) at 3000', out of Newcastle heading South. No ATC as airport is closed until lunch time today I think.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
