Wow, hadn't realised they had dropped to 2 weekly. When did that happen and what is the likely cause of such a low frequency?

BHX has been at 2x weekly for about 2 months, pretty much throughout most of September and October, although a couple of Sunday flights did operate in Oct. The reason given was lack of aircraft seeing as they've got several not flying (including some 777's) due to lack of spare parts.

To add to their woes it now seems they may be having problems with their fuel supplier.

PSO seeks govt permission to immediately stop fuel supply to PIA

ISLAMABAD: With outstanding arrears against Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) piling up over Rs11billion, Pakistan State Oil has sought permission from the federal government to “immediately discontinue fuel supplies to the national flag carrier.

Just checked PIA website and in January only showing x 2 weekly flights on a Thursday and Sunday, However checked in Feb 2015 and back to x3 weekly with the Tuesday flight added.

What state are PIA in at the moment? There doesn't seem to be the same sort of demand for them compared to when they first started (although it's been like this for a decade now I suppose).

They have only just phased out the 747-300s, but plan to lease 2 777-200s from Vietnam. They also have 8 777-300ER's on order, and 3 773s are to be leased from Kenya Airways. I hear they plan to introduce a new livery too :s_dunno

Hopefully the BHX flights will return to 4x weekly with all these new additions :)

BHX going back up to 4 weekly for the Summer season.

Thats good news, is the Saturday flight returning ????

Again despite the woes, they have stuck with BHX for a number of years now.

The Saturday flight is back from April, currently showing until the end of Oct.

This also means that BHX could potentially see 10 wide bodies on Saturdays this summer. That must be a record?

This is a pretty decent development. The PIA carry 395 pax a flight. And increase from 3 to 4 flights a week over summer represents a 25% increase over the summer season and just short of an additional 25,000 seats annually!

Saturday is looking busy ...

3x Emirates
2x Qatar
1x Pakistan International

They've been stuck at 4 weekly for a few years now. I imagine they probably won't get data of how many estimated passengers they could get on a flight to Karachi, but it would be nice to see them branch out.

With Shaheen Air starting at MAN, can we see them here?

Air Blue have announce MAN-ISB and Uner001 has said there were rumours of a similar launch to BHX, but again, as ever, a rumour is only good if it turns out to be true!

I certainly believe BHX has the market for more than 3x weekly PIA

I was just musing about PIA and thought perhaps they may have to respond sometime soon to AI with daily services but only if they get a fleet to compete with the Indians.

I can see Turkmenistan or one of the Iranians moving on their turf soon if PIA cannot get to grips.

Or maybe Air India have a superior offer to enable Islamabad passengers to route via Delhi/Amritsar by way of a short haul connection?

Turkmenistan could probably do quite well if they started flights into Pakistan. They seem focussed on transiting to Delhi and Amritsar though.

Would there be any political issues with people transiting India en route to Pakistan? I'm not really up on their relationship at the moment? Air India don't currently fly to Pakistan but PIA fly to Delhi and Mumbai.

One thing for sure is that Emirates seem to be picking up the passengers with Islamabad making their top 5 connections list. I'm sure Qatar will be after their share too.

PIA's back to a four times weekly flight it seems (at some point soon). Didn't they used to be 5 weekly before the 777 arrived in 2007?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
