Once again BHX look to 'back' an airline and once again they are left high and dry with no replacement likely in the short term. Berlin, Hamburg, Hanover, Milan, Stockholm, Lisbon, Reykjavik, Athens....... do I need to go on!

Airlines have zero loyalty to airports so maybe it's time that BHX starts to cover it's own back and stop worrying about putting a few noses out of joint. Not getting easyjet in is now no longer an option!!!

Will this airport ever start learning lessons from the past :banghead:

Absolute shambles.

Does loyalty count though, or is it just about the commercialism of air travel? BHX don’t seem to have worried about inviting Easyjet into BHX on existing GLA and EDI routes that Flybe offer. You can’t have it both ways.

Don’t misunderstand me, I can completely understand why BHX might have done this, after all, they are just protecting their best interest but every positive has to have a negative somewhere.

Loyalty doesn't count (and nor should it), which is kind of my point.

I'm not blaming Flybe, they're doing what they see is best for them, I'm just annoyed that yet again BHX have now found themselves in this position yet again.

But why now though, bit too much of a coincidence.

Don`t forget that other airlines can see what slots are being applied for or dropped so I`m sure Easy have a very good idea
of what to go for or put pressure on to push others off route as we have seen with Ryanair many times at various airports

stop worrying about putting a few noses out of joint.

At the rate we're going there aren't many airlines left that inviting EZY in would impact on.

Any discussions with EZY would likely take some time to come to fruition, and as NB has only been in his position for a few months, any potential EZY base would still likely be some time off. The unfortunate demise of TCX would likely delay any plans BHX & EZY had as the latter would rather use aircraft to expand at former TCX bases where EZY also have a base (mainly Gatwick & Manchester) than open a new base. That's not having a go at EZY - any airline would do the same.

Weren't RYR unable to expand at BHX in recent years do to lack of space at T2 or was that just somebody guessing? Can't believe we don't have Berlin served now (not that Flybe ever offered that much) so hopefully that will be one RYR can pick up.

A year ago, 18mppa by 2033 sounded very unambitious. With every passing week its sounding more like we'll struggle just to get back to pre-Monarch levels.

just seen that social media post too!!

very strange restart dates? I always thought Lyon was a popular ski destination over winter, so why axe these flights

do Flybe/Virgin know what they are doing?
I would not be surprised if Flybe are short of pilots and crew and too many need time off so they're cutting the routes now instead of having cancellations and delays later.

Memo to Flybe: Is there a surfeit of aircrew on the market at present?
There maybe but I'd say that for ex TCX crew and pilots there are much more attractive airlines recruiting than Flybe.

One thing also to mention for TCX pilots and cabin crew is that they are training on Airbus, would be quite costly to retrain them all onto the Dash 8 or Embraer. Going to Flybe after TCX would likely be a lower salary as well.

I'd be surprised if these routes have been dropped due to crew shortages. Flybe have closed or massively reduced the size of several bases so surely Flybe themselves should have pilots spare. Unless pilots from those bases have left Flybe for other airlines so they can stay based in a similar area.

I believe that Lufthansa want rid of Eurowings as they are losing money and they are dropping flights all over the place

Lufthansa are now entranched in FRA and MUC and Eurowings DUS but not a lot else if anything possibly Laudamotion or Easy

Seems that E175 routes are the ones effected. Not sure if anyone knows more but I've got an idea that some of the existing ones were due to leave the fleet. Also there were 4 legacy orders to fulfill. Maybe a swap around due to these other frames leaving early.

Next years' reintroduction could be a hint as to when the Virgin rebrand is launched. I guess this will also require some frames to be refitted.

Those were cancelled and the E175 fleet was supposed to be cut to 7 but I think they settled on 9.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
