Know some people on here wont like this post and yeah i do feel for the poor sods who will have to work. But I've just noticed that the Airport will once again be open on Christmas Day this year and by the looks of things it's getting even busier compared to last few years. There are up 8 flights planned to operate by airlines including KLM City Hopper, Monarch Airlines and Thomson Airways. Surprised British Airways are not running the early London Heathrow shuttle like they are doing at most other UK airports.

Friday, December 25th 2016.

Departures
06:10 - KLM1540 Amsterdam = Embraer 190
08:30 - MON7504 Tenerife South = Airbus A320-200
10:10 - KLM1546 Amsterdam = Fokker 70
13:15 - TOM3512 Tenerife South = Boeing 737-800

Arrivals
09:35 - KLM1545 Amsterdam = Fokker 70
12:15 - TOM3513 Tenerife South = Boeing 737-800
18:45 - MON7505 Tenerife South = A320-200
22:00 - KLM1551 Amsterdam = Embraer 190

The airport being open on Christmas Day is a sign of the times. Twenty or so years ago the idea of a regional airport being open on CD was almost unheard of and only the likes of Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester were operating, albeit with a less than full schedule. Now there's money to be made and the airlines expect availability. I do feel for those who will be working CD, whether they be Swissport, ASIG, ATC and all the others. It would be nice, although probably naive, to think that there are adequate volunteers to staff the show without 'forcing' staff in. I hope the financial and time-in-lieu recompense is equally adequate. FWIW I would be happy to work CD if I could take Boxing Day off but it doesn't work like that with my employer.

As I recall the first year LBA opened on CD was 2000, for a single Britannia Airways 757 to and from either Alicante or Tenerife. Thereafter it's been sporadic to accommodate the likes of Iberworld, Air Europa, PIA and KLM. Now Monarch have joined in it's perhaps something that Jet2 and easyJet will look at.

KLM's brand new Embraer 190, PH-EXF entered revenue service this evening at Amsterdam operating the night stopping KLM69W service into Leeds/Bradford.

Also Enter Air Boeing 737-800, SP-ENX is due to position into Leeds/Bradford this evening from Birmingham as ENT3310 to operate tomorrow's Lapland xmas day trip to Enontekio for Transun.

Good morning, just a quick heads up, LBA will have 4 flights on Christmas day, the 2 morning KLM rotations (the second 10:10 departure opporated by a Fokker 70), and a afternoon rotation opporated by TOM, and ZB respectively to tenerife. Best wishes to you all

By way Merry Christmas to everyone on here. I hope you all have a good one.....

Interesting departure for Christmas day, CS-GLE Bombardier Global dept midday tonight with excellent water spray. Well I guess if you are rich enough you can afford the staff overtime to fly on Christmas day!!!

Aer Lingus Regional ATR72, EI-FCY has just positioned out back to Dublin empty as STK100P after going tech yesterday morning and having to night stop at LBA last night.

Also worth noting that Easyjet used Swiss based Airbus A319, HB-JZV on today's EZY7346/7345 GVA-LBA-GVA rotation.

It's a while since we've been able to say we've a flight coming in from Barbados! What year did the cruise flights end?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
