Is there any reason why the RAF use LBA for training runs even when it’s functioning normally, other than it’s less busy than some other U.K. airports so easier to fit in between scheduled traffic?

No particular reason Len, they regularly use a lot of civil airports for training(useful if they need to operate out of one or divert to one, keeps pilots current, etc) For example last Tuesday Teesside had a Grob,a Hawk,a Hunter and 3 Typhoons using it for training. As for being less busy LBA can have it's moments, we have lost aircraft to other airports (or they have curtailed the training detail)when they have been told they would need to hold due inbound commercial traffic, especially if they have a training slot booked at another airfield at a particular time.

Beechjet 400 SP-ATT(Smartjet 48P) being vectored onto ILS, runway 14(1350) inbound from Lisbon

No movements yet apart from G-GDFV doing high powered engine runs
Police 42 has just been informed the airport is open until 1700Z - 1800 local time

I wonder when our PPE freight flights will start to arrive ?
Ah sorry I forgot we have no freight operations or forwarders now and anyway we dont have a runway that could accommodate them.
Never mind Yorkshire’s other airport is doing a great job for the region and grabbing the headlines.
At least we are open today as I saw a PC12 depart this morning.

That DSA is still open for business hasn't gone un-noticed. My understanding is that with the current uncertainty a certain airline are looking at their options as they suspect that the new terminal may be canned. Peel naturally are keen to show them what they have to offer. Watch this space, things could go from bad to worse for LBA.

Still open for business, yes but no airport can survive with cargo only traffic, take Glasgow Prestwick airports woes as an example. Leeds has it's limitations, yes, but the wider impact of covid-19 will substantially damaged the entire aviation industry if there's no plan on how to recommence passenger services.

Can’t help being jealous of Doncaster at the moment it’s a long way back to where we were !
Hoping for good not bad news and the sooner the better.

Several airports do survive exclusively on cargo revenues, others survive with a majority of their revenue from cargo, others depend on cargo supplement pax revenues to make them viable. I'm sure EMA for one would not have a problem if pax flights were withdrawn permanently.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
