7.5m pax by 2030 is looking increasingly fanciful. As is the prospect of an EZY base at LBA.
I’d say the prospect of a base has gone completely now. This coupled with the potential takeover will put paid to that.

Let’s just hope we can hold onto what we have left.

As I’ve said all along though, where has the marketing of these routes been? Next to no mention of easyJet or easyJet Holidays on LBA’s social media.

It’s quite concerning what going on at LBA, don’t think there any change of 7.5 million passengers by 2030, but I get the whole industry is struggling at present with the price of fuel etc, I for one still think there is more to come from easyJet but it’s the case of when not if, and not let’s forget Ryanair apparently applied for loads of slots for this summer but did not take them up, and we also have to remember the terminal is in the middle of a total renovation, which hopefully be ready sometime next year. But there are still positives with jet2 adding routes

Maybe that is also part of the problem and U2 have also fallen out with LBA over a lack of marketing
Regarding marketing who remembers those large banner ads thats used to display new routes that were placed above the runway tunnel entrance? Again nowhere to be seen, forget social media, think how many catchment area drivers would see a bright easyjet ad each day as they drive through the tunnels. Something as simple as "easyjet-new routes to palma, malaga and paris from LBA" straight to the point!
but for sure there is something not right at the airport, and in my opinion i dont feel its anything to do with the current world situation and other stigma related airport issues, everyones leaving and no new operators seem interested in our 100miliion upgrade(or is it 200m inc airfield upgrades?) Is the current team behind LBA upto standard or lagging?

Looking at the bigger picture, I don't think the aviation industry is in a particularly strong position right now. When heavyweights like Ryanair and easyJet are both reporting softer demand and Ryanair is talking about slashing fares it definitely points toward a bit of a downturn. Combined with the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Iran, it’s hard to see airlines taking big punts on new route expansions until things stabilise.

The are nowhere to be seen because Leeds City Council won't allow them.

With the industry in the turmoil it is currently in you would think marketing would be on the rise.....but no. Unless again the airport know something we don't about a (or some) committment(s) from airlines in the not too distant future. However I fear that isn't the case and we have to hope for expansion from our incumbent airlines, easyJet excepted

Now no CDG bookable beyond 19Feb27. This just gets worse from U2

I wouldn’t be surprised to see it withdrawn at the end of the summer.

The airport needs to pull some rabbits from the hat as they have gone massively backwards with losing airlines and routes in the past 12 months. Maybe those Ryanair slots will come to fruition next summer?

As for the social media @BCFC, I find a lot of what they put out drivel and childish. Summed up by some of their unprofessional replies to customers in a poor attempt at humour.

I agree with you Speedbird1 re LBA marketing. "Ey Up World" being a case in point. Certainly on the route development front, LBA is seemingly struggling to even ttread water at the moment.

In a normal world I would say: We shouldn't lose Belfast, it's performing about how it has been for the past 5 years. We shouldn't lose BCN, it's finding its feet ok. We shouldn't lose CDG, it's performing fairly well

However, we have already lost several routes (including Paris), and @Starflyer has a tendency to be bang on the money with these matters. I therefore have quite honestly lost all hope of them staying

It's the imminent announcement of Vueling on ORY, BCN, AGP and PMI that's frightening U2 off......oh wait .......is it that time already!

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
