Bristol Airport have appointed David Lees the current Managing director at Southampton Airport as CEO. He starts 1st August 2018.

They might. BRS has a pretty decent portfolio of business routes (I remember last year a senior easyJet figure said that half of her airline's 4 million-plus passengers at BRS were on business travel), albeit frequencies and perhaps timings could be improved on some and there are some glaring omissions (Zurich perhaps the obvious one) as I'm sure that regular business travellers will confirm. He was the MD of Southampton Airport which is a more business focused airport so i wonder if Bristol will look at more business routes.
Flybe did fly to Bergerac and Toulouse for a couple of years in the mid 'noughties'. I'd be very surprised to see them come back. They did ok at BRS before easyJet, and then Ryanair, became really established at the airport but generally found it difficult to compete with the big lo-cos there.Given mr lees dealings with Flybe at soh maybe he could tempt them to come to brs. Plenty of regional France to be served if they choose to
Maybe there wasn't a suitable one currently looking. Don't forget BHX is looking for a new CEO, and they are a bigger club than BRS.
Problem for Flybe going back to Bristol would be any successful routes would be jumped on by Easyjet and Ryanair to a lesser extent and they as airline would want to operate a more extensive operation than just regional France and as Easyjet already operate most of the routes that Flybe would want to operate it would just be a bloodbath. There is no way EZY would be happy to coexist with Flybe at BRS. Also I don't think Cardiff would be happy if their main airline launched new routes to regional France from Bristol instead of Cardiff. Same goes with Exeter as well.
So true if flybe pitched up in BRS it would end in a blood bath. It wont be a blood bath cus it aint going to happen.
Hmmmm......they got a CEO from an airport with just 2 million passengers? Bigclimb up for him but a bit of a climb down for BRS.
If an aiport wants to go places they need a CEO who has played in bigger clubs.

After the days of Les Wilson who was MD from 1980 until 1995 when he was killed in a car accident, BRS then had CEOs.From what I've read on the SOU thread on the other forum they seem to be glad to get rid of him. They also said he worked for BAA at Heathrow before.
.
Apparently we have a new CEO at BHX but as to who is a secret ! Presumably he/she are working their notice although there are some novel suggestions on the BHX forum.
Those routes are largely niche routes and I doubt that they could sustain a base. BRS isn't likely to make Flybe an offer it can't refuse because in terms of overall footfall Flybe would not be adding a great deal, and it's the footfall that sustains the ancillary revenue streams that BRS largely depends on to make its not inconsiderable profits.Interesting debate I have started about Flybe . However if you look at the routes the airline already offers from Southampton to France and look at what is missing at Bristol plus probably Bergerac now then I think there is more than enough for a 2 aircraft base for example Bastia Avignon Toulon Perpignan biarritz Bergerac Lyon Rennes and Brest alone would keep busy. As for Cardiff or Exeter being offended well it would be just business wouldn't it ?
