The traffic was horrendous around Leeds that Friday due to the closure of A1/M1. It took 1 hr 45 mins to do what is normally a 45 mins journey. I thought at one time we were going to miss our flight but made it with 10 mins to spare.

You did well to get here at all Seasider, given the entire area was covered in black ice. It took me as long to do the 5 miles to work as it did for you to get to LBA!

[textarea]MPs back Leeds-Bradford airport tram-train link

A cross party group of MPs have met with transport minister Norman Baker to push forward plans for tram-train link between the city centres of Leeds and Bradford with Leeds-Bradford airport this week.

The All Party Parliamentary Light Rail Group (APPLRG) meeting this week came ahead of next month’s expected announcement about how the £1bn West Yorkshire Plus Transport Fund would be allocated.

This article was from 25th of January but I don't think it was mentioned on here.

If you have never seen a 6ft snow drift, get yourself up Bayton Lane. It's like being in Canada!!

Road link details + rail link set to be announced this week.

Do you mean as part of the masterplan or is this a council plan do you know?

Leeds city region local gov multi billion infrastructure spend. Not in itself connected to bridgepoint's masterplan but allied to it.

Do we know what day the plans will be announced?

It's about time the road network around Leeds is updated. The outer ring road should at least be dual carriageway all the way around. I think the current transport infrastructure for a city the size of Leeds is a joke!

Does anybody know if it will be a direct rail link to the airport or some sort of parkway station?

There was an article i was reading online the other day that said £1 billion has been set aside for the road and rail network for the Leeds region, one thing it did say was that there be a new access road to LBA along with plans to include a rail link to the airport. There is also plans to expand the trolley bus network, i wonder if LBA could be praticle, if it does come to LBA, for the TB to operate via Scotland lane, that way it cuts our Rawdon.

Rumour has it that they maybe a new bus service into the airport from July with the route serveing Seacroft - Moortown – Lawnswood and Horsforth using the Ring Road.

I wonder if that will be related to the current Seacroft - Pudsey bus 8 that goes along the ring road.

Yep that's correct cmj. The No8 will no longer serve Pudsey but from Horsforth head upto the airport instead. Something to with the fact Centrebus have lost a lot of Tendered work from July service changes in Leeds to FirstBus...

So Horsforth will get a bus service to the airport at last. (Before anyone says anything yes I know the 757 serves the Fleece end of town, but nothing serves the Old Ball end of town, or goes anywhere near Horsforth station). Not before time.

Where does that leave the section of route from Horsforth to Pudsey though?

Pudsey to Horsforth still covered by the First Leeds No9 service.

So -more good news. What about the proposed York - LBA coach link that was mooted some months ago - any news of it starting. I, at one time thought a York to LBA service via Seacroft might be viable. I also think an out of town dropping of point is useful for those taking someone to say the airport. Rather than going all the way a person(s) can be dropped off at a suitable point where they can take public transport the rest of the way and a point out of town, such as Seacroft is handy as you do not have to drive all the way into the city centre.

Might sound daft this but why not extend the No 8 from Seacroft to York and kill 2 birds with one stone.

first tried a Leeds to York service X64 to rival Coastliner it didnt last long so i couldnt see that linking it to the Airport would carry enough to justify it.
But on the same thinking why not extend the current 737 (i think) Bradford to Harrogate via LBA to York via Knaresborough and the A59

Before anyone gets carried away please bear in mind this is still just a rumour and has not been confirmed by anyone as yet. We will have to wait until the end of this month ro find out whats happening as the bus operators need to registar the changes to VOSA first.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
