I understand the temporary move of BA to T1 stands is due to the removing & repairing of the lift and escalators that lead from the lower level gate area connecting T1 to T3 up in to T3. BA arrivals are still bussed to T3 and exit out of the domestic baggage hall as before.

Obviously the move isn't ideal as T1 is already very tight on stand utilisation atm.

Does anyone have a link or file showing the latest airfield maps?
The TAS website maps seem to be out-of-date now, since the change in some taxiway and stand designations...

Thanks.

Breaking News - Runway 05R / 23L due to re-open on the 5th April 2022 - so Manchester will once again have dual runway operations.
Timings to be confirmed. Many of you will be aware that Terminal 3 at Manchester Airport is due to open on 27th March 2022.

Will security open in T3 on the same day too? I thought I had seen a suggestion that for the time being security in T1 will still be used for T3 departures?

Tbh I think the main problem is that they are already short of security staff which explains why it’s been so bad over recent weeks from multiple reports I have seen as numbers are picking up, so I am not clear how they expect to staff T3 security as well.

I believe all of T3 will reopen, so yes passengers will be processed via T3 security.

There was a rumour about a potential to feed passengers through T1, but I don’t think this would have been practical given the increase in both EasyJet and Ryanair flights and therefore passengers from the end of March.

It will be interesting to see how MAG manage their security teams across all three terminals given the current staff shortage…

I don`t think they can and they know it...They have embarked on a massive recruiting drive but thats going to take time before any such recruits are competent (if that`s the right word) on a terminal...We are through T1 on a first wave EZY at the end of May, for Gibraltar, and I`m dreading it...

Any more news yet on who will be moving to T3 and who’s staying out? I remember discussion that T3 couldn’t handle both Ryanair and Easyjet. Would Air France be staying in T2?

Ryanair, BA, Eastern, Loganair & Aurigny are moving over.

I don't believe any airlines are moving out of T2, so Air France will remain there.
Eventually the plan is for all airlines currently in T1 to move over to T2 as the TP (Transformation Project) progresses.

In the long term, I would expect Ryanair to remain in T3 alone.

Any idea what's happening with FedEx after 25/3? Can't remember if it's dropping to a B738, just ATR or going completely?

According to ACL, whom I spoke to this morning, it would appear that Fedex will be ceasing their operations from Manchester.

Disappointing news. Does this extend to the West Atlantic ATR72 as well as the inhouse FedEx B757-200?

Took a trip to the airport today...arrived by train around midday, station quite busy. Walking along the skylink, very busy in both directions, nice to see. Took the lift to level 13 for a look around in the rare sunshine...most movements early-mid afternoon were Ryanair and Easyjet.

From FlightRadar24, I noted various delayed TUI departures, which seems to be a daily occurrence. Seems Swissport also have staff shortages.

I also observed several Ryanair aircraft waiting for the safedock to be activated. On one occasion, a Ryanair flight from Dublin landed and was waiting 15 mins for the safedock, understandably the pilot didn't sound very happy over ATC...I heard the ops guy say he was calling Menzies, but was "on way to marshal the aircraft onto stand".
This has become quite frequent with Ryanair arrivals recently...what is the process for using the safedock...can it only be performed by a specific member of the ground staff?

Evening,

Ryanair are also handled by Swissport, staff must be trained to operate the safedock - if no trained staff are available then airport ops will be requested to assist - as you say above, this is now a common occurrence. Handling agents are trying to assist each other but most are short staffed themselves.

Will be interesting to see how things work (or don't) in two weeks time.

Thanks for the info.
Apologies...I heard the ops guys say he was calling the ground team...I wrongly assumed Ryanair were handled by Menzies.

Yes indeed...I do sympathise with the guys and girls on the ground...as for their management teams, definitely not!

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
