I cant see the yield making up for those load factors , very dissapointing . Flybe must have got an awfull lot of money /support from the airport .

'white elephant' 195 for a while until CWL and DSA
In the end the 'white elephant' has given CWL a much needed boost and may have even surprised Flybe! In the end the 195's will be suitable for some routes and too big for others but they are better than nothing. Depending on what happens in the future, maybe as smaller aircraft are based at CWL and takeover some of the lower load factor loads then the E195's can be put on routes that would fill them up like FAO and MXP does in the summer.

Yes but they have, but the airport and the airline are both benefiting from the deal and Flybe must be happy with the way their base at CWL is performing because they are basing a Q400 at CWL next summer. In the end all airports generally give airlines some sort of deal or incentive to base aircraft at their airport and CWL is no different it's just done it in a different way.

Düsseldorf is still not bookable so I'm wondering if it's being quietly dropped?

I think someone mentioned Flybe had either cut or dropped a similar service from Doncaster.

CWLs was once weekly on a BHX based Q400 on a Saturday. It did BHX-DUS-CWL-DUS-BHX. I was hoping that it might have been kept now there is a Q400 based at CWL as more routes the better but if they can't fit it in and make money then I understand why it's been dropped.

If it is canned it won't come as a great surprise to me to be honest. Dusseldorf isn't a major performer from the UK regions with perhaps just one or two exceptions.

Frankfurt would probably be a better route to have than Düsseldorf.

That's very good news re LCY. I wondered whether it would operate because loads haven't apparently been great since the Severn Tunnel re-opened. That said, with a Q400 seemingly booked to operate other routes at CWL the LCY route was probably on fairly firm ground.

Summer will probably see leisure travellers using it in greater numbers than they would in winter although it seems aimed primarily at the business market.

As an aside, I smiled wryly to myself a week or two ago when I read on another website that a CWL supporter was complaining that CWL would be discriminated against if it had no London route as every other major city in the country has one. That would certainly be news to the likes of Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield, Bristol, Hull, Leicester, Coventry and Nottingham. Where do some people get these ideas?

Yes it is good news that it continues and hopefully the loads will pick up with more leisure traffic using the route during the summer. Yes I think some people forget that although Cardiff is a capital city it is still a small city and does have good links to the capital already. If hadn't have returned then I was hoping that either there would be a twice daily MAN or the Q400 would takeover CDG and go twice daily with that and free up a E195 for a new route. Hopefully Flybe will think of basing more Q400s at CWL and free up the Embraers for other routes over the next couple of years.

Flybe have added an extra weekly Cork flight on a Sunday which means between March and June there will be 3 weekly flights Tuesday Saturday and Sunday then from June 18th to October 2 weekly flights Saturday and Sunday.
Sunday flight is CWL-ORK 13.00-14.05 ORK-CWL 14.35-15.40.
Only thing I can't figure out is where the aircraft is coming from as both based Embraers according to Flybe's schedule will be away one should be in Paris after just landing and the other is scheduled to takeoff from Berlin at that time. It's an Embraer seat plan. And the Q400 should be crew changing at Belfast at that time as well. Only thing I can think of is that it's flown in from elsewhere but I haven't seen a new route on the schedule and would they reposition one just for Cork?
Bit of a mystery! Maybe there is more to come from Flybe!:)

From mid-June until early October just Saturday and Sunday flights? That looks as though the airline is concentrating solely on the VFR/leisure market for the route.

Yes it does I just can't figure out whataircraft they are going to fly it with.

Some improvements on last month. Paris seems to have had a boost, personally I wonder if this is because Skyteam are releasing more long haul flights via CDG (earlier time now) as I was able to book my return trip home from the US via CDG where as before that wasn't available, Berlin and Munich may have had a boost due to the Xmas market and the rest seems pretty steady though LCY has surprised me thought it would do better over Xmas time. Though I do wonder if the fog delays and cancellations could be putting people off from booking?

I've been looking at Skyteam flights to Portland for Easter and I've now noticed that the Flybe daily CDG flight is now included under the Air France codeshare both ways. Earlier in the month it wasn't there all the flights were via AMS. I'm wondering if Air France waited until they knew Flybe were renewing the LCY route so they could use it as an alternative route to CWL if there were delays or cancellations? As that is the way they sent me home when I got delayed. Do airlines operate like that when putting long haul flight packages together? Especially if the flight is only daily? And could the LCY route now give the CDG route a boost indirectly?

Has anyone heard anything as to whether Düsseldorf is continuing next year?

Didn't somebody say it was canned along with flights from DSA to DUS?
Did they? I must have missed that post. I know at the moment it's available via LCY but after March it's not. It is definitely looking like it's been canned.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
