Sorry for being a little behind the times, but why does it even have to go to Jenrick ( apart from the issues being caused by ER) is it because its green belt land?
Yes. Any building of 1000m2 or more that is built in, or visually impacts on the green belt, has to be submitted and approved. The new terminal is on airport land, not green belt, but visually impacts on the green belt to the East due to its prominent location. Screening it with trees isn't really possible as they would have to be huge to achieve anything.

So what we need to do now is to write to Mr Jenrick and say that we are going to get crowd funding to plant a large number of giant redwood trees to the East of the airfield which will block the view of the new terminal, which he should therefore get on and approve.

Giant Californian Sequoias would be good at 250' high and a few metres across at the base when fully grown. Shame it takes them 200 years to get there though. No doubt GALBA would object on the grounds they are not native to the UK.

Just a gentle reminder how important it is that as many people as possible write to Robert Jenrick MP using the silly form on his Ministerial website, to ask that he approves the LBA terminal when submitted under Green Belt legislation and does not give in to GALBA and Alex Sobel's demands that he calls it in for a public inquiry.

We can be certain that GALBA fans will be doing so . If he gives in to them it will delay the project by 1 to 2 years, cost a fortune and could possibly kill our chances of ever seeing LBA flourish. There is no room for complacency! Let's not turn a positive into a negative by assuming we will get the right outcome!

Great to see everybody sending in the letters, well done everybody! will we find out when the planning app has been passed over to him to be signed off or is it not made public?

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!
If anyone would like to share their local airport news right here in our news area let me know so I can give you the correct permissions to do so. It only takes a couple of minutes to upload a news story with an accompanying image. survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
