I see where you are coming from on that but I don't recall any particular difficulties when 133.125 was in use(not even from "Our friends in Brussels " who eventually forced the change to 134.575).

Try MilitaryFreedar.uk, seems to pick up a fair amount(and obviously as the name suggests is free to access-what every good Yorkshireman likes!)

You could make the runway as long as you want F2W but if you don't have the infrastructure in place to handle freight flights(handling agents, storage, equipment to load and offload the freight, personnel, apron parking space, road access, etc) then it's not going to happen.

The pilot mentioned a "slight technical problem" as the reason.

Talking of the control tower I came across this picture in a YEP publication "Changing Leeds-part 4 Transport" dated July 1970.

At least making the tower remote from the terminal building should solve the problem of ATC having to bail out every time the fire alarm goes off!.When you think about it there are not that many ATC towers left that are attached to terminal buildings- Humberside,Cardiff and Shoreham are about...

Yes I have found his transmissions quite muffled too, the difference when another controller takes over is quite marked.I also think there is at least one if not two new voices on tower over the last few days as well.

    Aer Lingus

I think the condition of the runway also plays a part-eg.wet/damp/dry,contaminated with slush or snow, etc.

And a newbie on radar for the last few days too, a bit of "northeast"in the voice I think.
