I guess that is a back handed compliment.
Absolutely and as much as people will moan and complain they continue to use them, so really their argument is broken. What would be good to see would be the units tendered out separately but I imagine part of the current service delivery contract with the airport will be that each unit must be open from first flight until last flight. SSP has the ability to pool staff so weaker units can send staff to busier locations. Separately tendered units won't be able to do that. From the retailers point of view I suppose what is a reasonable price uplift at an airport is what the customer is prepared to pay.
Watch his later video, sat on the plane, and you will realise its anything but. It's intended as a put down. In that later one he suggests LBA has had its £100m upgrade already and that you don't get much for that money. No mention that the work is ongoing and 12 months from completion. He is poking fun at LBA.I guess that is a back handed compliment.
Doesn't come easily, but better than him coming to a half finished LBA and putting out videos which are critical but ignore completely the fact its still a construction site.Tut,Tut @White Heather, encouraging someone to use MAN.😉
Not sure that would be LBA marketing. Its Jet2 themselves that put up the advertising so I imagine ut's up to them to update it. LBA will just sell them the advertising space. On the subject of things needjng to go, as you exit the terminal drop off car park, there remains a Jet2 poster promoting 58 destinations ex LBA (as of Oct 2024) that really needs updating. Come on LBA marketing team. Pull your socks up.

The mention of connecting pax off the KLM is very interesting. I dont ever remember seeing any mention of transfer/connecting pax in the relevant column in the monthly pax stats, so these may be the first- at least for some time. Do you know where there connecting flight was to be any chance?LBA to Naples (NAP) Flight Review: Twilight Check-in, Terminal Work & Departure
View attachment 33605
Having recently taken a flight out to Naples from Leeds Bradford Airport, I thought I'd share a quick review of the current airport experience while the major terminal works are still ongoing.
Check-in & Security
We took full advantage of the Twilight Check-in service, which proved to be incredibly easy and smooth. We used the 1 hour free parking area, which is only a short 5 minute walk to the terminal building. Dropping the bags off early made the actual departure morning completely hassle free. On the morning of the flight, we paid for Fast Track security. The Fast Track line was very short, though to be fair, the main security lanes were moving at a really good pace as well.
Departure Lounge & Terminal Progress
Once airside, there are still plenty of hoardings up where construction is actively taking place. It’s a bit of a shame that more wasn't fully finished in time for the peak summer rush, but you can definitely start to see how the new layout seamlessly links the old terminal building with the new extension. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.
The newly completed areas are fully air-conditioned and very comfortable. Oddly enough, we noticed a group of American passengers connecting via the KLM flight cooped up in the narrow temporary corridor area, I couldn't quite figure out why they didn't wander over to the fully completed, spacious parts of the lounge!
I should also mention that the temporary WHSmith shops weren't as obtrusive as I had previously feared. That said, I still hope they remain strictly temporary for the layout reasons I’ve mentioned before.
Boarding & Departure
Boarding was handled via the old arrivals walkway down to Stand 5 or 6. Everything was well organised, pushback was right on time, and it was a thumbs up from us overall.
Return & Arrivals Experience
Our return flight landed about an hour late due to the general inefficiencies at Naples Airport. Upon arrival at LBA, we parked on Stand 5 or 6 once again, where two coaches were already waiting for us.
Despite the delay and the volume of passengers, the new arrivals process was seamless, busy, but fast moving. Baggage began hitting the carousel within a couple of minutes of us entering the hall, and we were on our way home almost immediately.
Final Verdict
While the airport is still mid renovation, it remains tricky to paint a complete picture of what the final layout will feel like. Looking past the construction hoardings and temporary walkways, I’d rate the current setup as "Good" especially knowing what is coming. However, for a first-time visitor or a casual holidaymaker who might not pass through again, their impression right now would likely be "Poor" or "Average" simply due to the visual impact of the ongoing works and temporary routing.
Sorry I should have said connecting via the KLM Amsterdam flight. The mention of connecting pax off the KLM is very interesting. I dont ever remember seeing any mention of transfer/connecting pax in the relevant column in the monthly pax stats, so these may be the first- at least for some time.
