Did you find that the gates aren't large enough for the amount of passengers on one plane? I found it crazy this purpose built terminal can't handle a plane load of people at each gate. Can't imagine wide body!!

We didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary, and our flight departed full, or at least we didn’t spot any empty seats.
I’m waiting until the terminal is fully finished before passing judgement. For now, a lot of people will be using the new extension, since many of the other areas are out of action. So it’s bound to seem busier at the moment.

Thirty minutes between leaving the house and sitting in the Tap and Brew with a Guinness. Tremendous so far.
Hoping to have more luck on this flight to Dublin than a few weeks ago when we spent eight hours at the airport, on and off the plane, before abandoning the trip altogether (wind).
Hoping for a quick getaway at DUB so I can catch the second half of the Leeds game.
Incidentally, nobody has checked or asked for our passports at all so far. I know the FR staff check on boarding, but that’s a quick eye-check.
Is this usual?

there is no outbound passport control in the UK so if you are carry on only the only point a passport gets checked is on boarding at the gate.
also Ireland is in a common travel area with the UK, so you can actually fly to Ireland without a passport - although some airlines like FR require you to have one.

You’ll be affected as soon as those passengers board your flight and it becomes delayed, disrupted, or even diverted because of their behaviour.
It’s always surprising how often the reaction is “well, it’s not my problem”. The reality is that it quickly becomes a problem for airline staff, cabin crew, pilots, airport staff, and ultimately every other passenger on board. Dealing with intoxicated passengers isn’t what they signed up for, nor should they have to deal with the abuse, disruption, and safety concerns that often accompany it.
A 30mph speed limit through a village doesn’t mean everyone drives at exactly 30mph. Most people self-regulate, some don’t. The same applies to alcohol. If people are given unrestricted access to alcohol in an airport environment, 24 hours a day, some will drink responsibly and some won’t.
That doesn’t remove personal responsibility, but it does mean airports and retailers have a role in ensuring things don’t reach the point where passengers are too drunk to fly. Once it gets that far, everyone else ends up dealing with the consequences.

Not sure exactly when that was but I suspect it probably was yesterday with the tractor "fun". Either way the new CSZ can't open soon enough. I think @White Heather said it was September of this year before it opens?

I flew LBA-RHO Thursday evening with Jet2. Bag drop was fine. No queues at all for security at 13:30 when we went through with all lanes open. Departures was absolutely rammed but we managed to find seats in the “new bit”
Our plan was to eat in Tap & Brew but there were no free tables at all and people were queuing to go in….so back to Boots for a meal deal. For those of us wondering exactly where the new seating and loo’s are from those pics posted a few weeks back, well, remember that corridor you walked along from the old bit to the new bit which had good apron views, that has now gone. It’s basically just to the left of that area. We could hear work being carried out where the apron view windows were so hopefully they’ll come back.
I’d say 170 on board the flight as I counted 20ish empty seats when I went to the loo. Flight time of 3hours 40mins.
On arrival into RHO I counted only 10 EES passport scanners…but they were all turned off anyway and passports were just being manually scanned at the 12 manned desks…all open.

I flew RHO-LBA last night. A little bit delayed due to ATC restrictions on the outbound flight so we landed at 02:50 and from what I could see it was a full flight.
Parked opposite the entrance to international arrivals so walked straight in. Quickly through immigration with all desks open and manned. Baggage reclaim was busy and we waited around 15mins for our cases. We couldn’t be bothered walking down to the free drop off point to meet our taxi so paid the £8 to get picked up at the terminal…and we weren’t the only ones. I’ve never landed at LBA in the early hours and was really surprised how busy it was. Cars queuing to get into the drop off area were back down to almost Whitehouse Lane. Heaven knows how busy the free drop off zone was. All in all it was a good arrival experience.

I’m on the Ls413 to Dalaman this afternoon. Good news is Jet2 check-in was a breeze and the were no queue at security.
The departure lounge is absolutely rammed with people. No where to sit and the are people sat on the floor.

Didn’t think things could get any worse but they have.
Boarded Boeing 737-800, G-JZHD on time but due to waiting for fueling and baggage problems we started push back 55 mins late.
After push back the captain had informed us we now have a technical problem, so we’ve taxied back onto stand so that the engineers can get onboard to take a look.

So what was wrong with your chariot and what time did you eventually get away to wherever? Was it on the same beastie or did they need to find another one for you?

Still not entirely sure what the problem was with the aircraft. We remained onboard whilst Engineers managed fixed the problem. Ee eventually departed Leeds 2 hours late at 18:35, mdae up 30 mins enroute and landed Dalaman just 90 mins late.

No different to fuel on the motorways…20-30p per litre more expensive.

Irrelevant to the price of coffee at an airport! I also bought a latte at Starbucks on the way back at Tenerife, price was €5.05 so about £4.30. My opinion is not changed, LBA prices are a rip off.
How much more expensive is a Starbucks at LBA compared to the high street? I think anyone who knows how the airport / airline business works would expect the airport price to be higher - that’s just inevitable - so it’s just a question of how much more is reasonable I guess.
