European Cargo to start operating cargo flights to Nairobi and Jinan, just south of Peking, on 31st August with two A340-600s, report from social media. Forecast of busy cargo time for CWL let's hope it's all correct.
What social media site?

Fingers crossed we'll get something official soon.

With the widening of the taxi turn offs it seems the airport has been working closely with them to make operations out of Cardiff easier. If this does happen I guess they have come up with a better parking plan as taking up all of the six pack doesn’t seem like a very good long term solution.

Well stand 6 is available but the 6 pack doesn't really get much use though. There's enough stands for the passenger operations especially considering the lack of based aircraft.

Post on facebook with information from European Cargo employees, that they will be sending a few A340's into CWL on Tuesday and Thursday next week because of a fire service strike at Bournemouth airport. The extra promised Cargo flights that were promised to start in September on regular flights have been postponed until October, we shall have to wait and see what the future holds.

Well I'd have thought Swissport wouldn't be advertising jobs related to it if they weren't confident it was going to go ahead.

I read on the Cardiff Airport fan Facebook page that negotiations are ongoing with EC after some disagreements.
The same person also mentioned there are other cargo carriers lined up. It could just be made up rumours, but one to watch out for in terms of Cargo expansion.

There must be something to the rumours, because Swissport have been advertising jobs on the cargo side of operations at CWL. We will have to wait and see what transpires.

Swissport must be confident of a regular operation to recruit for such a job and hopefully that suggests something more than just European Cargo.

CWL is ideally situated for flights by Amazon Prime Air, with two big distribution centres, one just off the M4 in Swansea, and one just off the M5 at Bristol, it would slightly shorten their flights times from the US, and certainly their HGV road distances. Let's hope that CWL management have been speaking to them.

Amazon is a big thing now airfreight wise and it doesn't need to be just an Amazon service a general freight service ie someone like DHL could accommodate them as well. At the moment European Cargo is basically just import and I'd expect that CWL would want to also generate services which import and export for that a coldstore could also be required. Guess it all depends on the needs of the customer.

On another forum someone mentioned that Cardiff had applied for and received authorisation of cargo hub from the CAA.
Anyone know what difference that is from the current cargo operations they currenty run?

It is linked to the import of goods to meet security standards from certain non European countries. Might be to support operations from European or another operators from countries that don’t meet UK import requirements meaning they need to be screened on arrival.

European Cargo have been operating four or five planes daily of late, the Urumqi flights that were coming into CWL, now appear to be regularly going to LYON in France, and last week there was a one off flight from Asuncion in Paraguay into Bournemouth. I hope the rumoured dispute between CWL and the airline is sorted soon, because the several positions in the cargo section at CWL, recently advertised by Swissport, will leave staff sitting around twiddling their thumbs, that is of course if Swissport and CWL know something that we are not aware of, and there is another carrier in the pipeline, let's hope so.

Assuming that the positions are for European Cargo? They operated before and Swissport didn't have those positions. I believe CWL recently applied for and was granted authorisation of cargo hub from the CAA considering European Cargo operated into Cardiff before they must've not needed that for them but could potentially for something else?

Apparently the dispute is between CWL and the EC, and previously mentioned in a post by Samdorob. and not between CWL and the airline, sorry for wording it wrongly. It also mentions the possibility of further carriers into CWL.

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
