The loss of Burgas is of course disappointing but the extra PMI rotation seems to be filling up nicely with an over 99% LF. Just proves how popular HUY could be if it made efforts to offer the destinations that people in the area want! They’re obviously prepared to pay a premium to fly from there.

The AMS was lower than May but this may largely be down to Feb planned reductions due to the NATO summit. Hopefully July reported above 10,000 again!

It's time to produce my usual analysis of the CAA data - this time for July. I also have produced a report showing the figures for July from 2019 (showing the Covid effect).

With the CAA data now being available, here is my take on the latest monthly statistics. Please remember that, for an unknown reason, there is always a difference between the total passenger figure in Table 9 and the separate figures from Tables 12.1, 12.2 and 12.3.

The reason for the fall in domestic passengers is that traffic on the Aberdeen route fell to zero from 812 in the equivalent month last year. This was caused by the demise of the operator, Eastern Airways.

Here is my usual monthly take on the CAA data - this time for January. As usual there are differences in the figures when comparing the various tables, however I have used Table 3, 9, 12.1, 12.3 and 13.

A full comparison of figures for January between 2019 to 2026 can be found here:

The PMI flights continue to perform spectacularly well and judging by the prices, and the fact they sell out very rapidly, I’m going to suggest they’re high yielding given high load factors and rate of sale. For that alone I see no reason why TUI couldn’t have a similar setup to the bases they operate at NWI and EXT. Course the DSA situation is causing problems and TUI are potentially wanting back in, but it’s frustrating to see what could be done at HUY if there was a bit of will from both sides.

Compared to EXT, NWI and MME Humberside currently has by far the most underserved captive market. There are over a million for whom the only option is at least a 90 minute drive to another airport. Arguably the core uncontested potential market is actually larger than DSA’s was, there are people who will clearly happily pay a bit more to be able to fly from their local airport. Stands to reason that HUY built up a substantial IT Charter program in the old world.

I hope common sense prevails in this.

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours

I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
