I would guess that LGW and MAN did better in the pre-pandemic years but BRS which outperforms generally given its core catchment size and small site has been stellar in its ski routes programme for many years. It does serve a wealthy area and also attracts substantially from the far South West and from South Wales where the ski routes from EXT/NQY/CWL are minimal in number, as well as from the (mainly) western end of the Thames Valley.I wasn't sure. I think they are going to Chambery which feeds the same area as Grenoble in terms of mountains/alps and ski resorts.
83 weekly flights from one airport is pretty impressive. I wonder how that compares to MAN/LGW. LHR I discount as the GVA route carries business.
CAA stats show that in 2014 and 2015 BRS's annual passenger numbers on the Geneva route were beaten in the UK only by Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton. In the last full pre-pandemic year (2019) MAN had overtaken BRS in the annual Geneva passengers numbers but the only other UK airports to handle more on the route were still only LHR, LGW and LTN. This is one example of this small airport's outperformance.
Anyway, back to Ryanair, they once operated to Salzburg from BRS in the ski season but gave it up many years ago leaving it to easyJet and charter carriers, and now Jet2 as well.
