He always wanted to join the Airport Support Group. I was happy to have him. My (then) colleagues said no, so I was outvoted. They were somewhat worried about the fact that JH, even at his young age, was quite happy to tell airport management what he thought, whether popular or not. I thought that a good thing. My colleagues disagreed, and the rest is history.
The one thing you can say about JH is that he knows his stuff. He wouldn't have got where he is today if he hadn't. And yes it has taken until more recent LBA Managements to get the airport full moving and there is still some way to go. Let's hope he can really make LM a success and that one day they can make a return to LBA. The logistics of my trip in August are certainly not easy. Even the MAN GLA flights don't fit in with the schedule. The train is a nightmare. So it looks like I may have to drive. If only..............

Not LBA related as we know the airline isn't interested in operating from here, but here's my two-penith

Maybe Government minister's should go knocking on the door of Loganair cash rich owners Airline Investments Limited, Peter and Stephen Bond door first.

Or failing that seen as they call themselves "Scotland's Airline" how about Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP put there money where the mouth is for once!

Exactly, Nicola sturgeon is always wanting independence so lets see how she deals with the situation!

There are two or three aircraft flying between several airports/fields on the Islands in Scotland with the call signs given as their reg. On checking them they are operated by Logan, so I presume they are operated on behave of the medical services in Scotland. along side the ones that are owned by the Hial service.

As far as I am aware, they are the flights operated by Loganair Twin Otters on scheduled services from Glasgow. I do not know why they are using the reg unless it is because they are the routes subsidised by the Highlands Council.

Intresting development, Loganair have been awarded 98+ weekly slot pairs at London Heathrow this summer.
20+ slots are being used for flights to Teesside and another 28+ used for Isle of Man. I understand both routes have British Airways codeshare.

I wonder what they have planned for other 44+ remaining to be allocated. Hopefully a possible new Leeds service?

Lovely as that would be I think you may find they will be used for LHR - NQY Service. More than happy to be proved wrong though. Perhaps they could do both LBA and NQY with the slots. Plus will be interesting to see if MME lasts, but with a BA code share and ok timings on not too large an aircraft, it certainly has a chance

Will the need 44+ weekly slot pairs for LHR-NQY? That's 6 daily rotations

3x daily LBA-LHR & NQY-LHR would be nice.

I thought that Eastern had been given a PSO to serve Gatwick?
I can't see Loganair competing with that, even to Heathrow.

People are picking up info about slot allocation, and reading a lot into it. I will wait and see what flights start to operate.

Nothing official but Eastern do have slots for Gatwick.

I know we have all thought there’s has been a lot of doom and gloom at LBA when even MME have secured new routes. Routes which we all cast serious doubts on whether they would last. Well it appears LM have dropped MME to DUB. So are our predictions re MME going to be proved correct. I am afraid we are still a long way from out of this mess with many airports still in for some future pain

Surely MME-DUB going is a reflection of complete uncertainty as to when borders in Ireland will re-open for travel? I wouldn't plan or book a trip to Dublin at the moment, and it seems as though I'm not alone. With no DUB services from quite a few UK airports at the moment - CWL, EXT, MME, INV - then I think this is surely more an issue relating to DUB than to MME?

Heads Up!

For some weird reason, my days off work tend to involve being out of my flat by 5am and not getting back until 10pm. Back to work and the regular "fix" of 7.40am to 7.15pm hours
Heatwave Mk2 next week?
Some explosive weather build-ups currently in the North of England. What is it like where you are?
LBA: B737-300 G-GDFK empty down to Paris at 16:15 to operate the return LS268 back to Leeds 20:00 ETA where it will then operate the delayed LS265 to Malaga 20:40ETD
LBA: Albastar B737-800 EC-MUB positioning in tommorow afternoon from Gatwick 15:45 to operate a charter to Lourdes/Tarbes on Friday afternoon 14:00 AP7721 STC
I don't believe I am quite covering enough roles at work. Its now 4 on a bad day, 5 on a good day and there is scope for a 6th and 7th role. Still on minimum pay but had the biggest payrise in the company,
