Looks like i wont be eating my hair after all :giggle: No chance flights will be operating in may due to how europe is atm!
Numerous airports announcing new routes to the south coast airports esp newquay but once again nothing from LBA!

Newquay has been lunched by easyJet on a large scale from Scottish airports and 2 of their large airports. Quite frankly I'm happy with Eastern Airways. easyJet are large enough to take on these routes; considering a chunk of passengers could be VFR and/or second holiday owners for Cornwall. We don't have easyJet based here and I doubt they'd be interested in operating W pattern flight into LBA to a marginal destination.

Ryanair haven't launched Cornwall from any UK airports; they concentrate on taking British tourists to holiday destinations overseas - ALC/FAO been the two it operates from Newquay.

Yes We already have a Newquay route, but at Eastern Airways will struggle to fill a 29 seat BAe Jetstream 41 at there sky rocket prices

I think the be plenty of room for a low cost airline like easyJet this summer to fill up an Airbus A319 at there lower base, even Loganair could fill a Embreaer cheaper.
No point Jet2 as they just too dam expensive, not low cost by any means. Even KLM are cheaper than them to Amsterdam.

Maybe its our lack on infrastructure as to why we don't have 3 carriers on the NQY route? No in all seriousness, id rather have T3 operating x4/5 weekly for the foreseeable then have EZY come onto the route for one season, both struggle to fill the seats and both pull off the route. If you look at NQY the only airport with 2 airlines is MAN with Loganair and easyJet, which should be easy to sustain.

I think jet2 missed a trick by removing from sale all flights to Jersey until late June. I'm sure they could have filled those Boeing 737-300's 3x times a week between now and then.

For now Ryanair, Balkan and Jet2 remain suspended at LBA. I know it's not much but at least over the next month or so (4-5 weeks) we do start to see some action landing and taking-off once again.

Aurigny
Guernsey - 2x weekly (Mon & Fri) from May 28th
Aer Lingus
Belfast City = increased to 4x weekly (Mon, Thu-Fri & Sun) from May 2nd
KLM
Amsterdam = restarts this Saturday 3-4x weekly increasing to 1x daily from May 8th
Eastern Airways
Newquay = restarts April 30th 2x weekly (Mon & Fri) increases to 3x weekly (Mon, Fri & Sun) from May 23rd
Southampton = restarts May 17th, 10x weekly (2x daily Mon-Thu & 1x daily Fri & Sun)
TUI Airways
Palma = 2x weekly (Tue & Sat) from May 18th
Corfu = restarts May 21st, 1x weekly (Fri)

What im suggesting is what aviador hinted on a few posts back, a 90s style jersey program, but also to south coast airports. bit like what Dan air operated in early 90s to jersey, those were the days with the 1-11s,146s and 737s!

There are about half the number of hotel beds in Jersey today compared to 1997. About 10,000 beds in total on the island. No point trying to sell air tickets to people who cant find anywhere to stay.

I am wondering too if Jet2 have jumped the gun as Canaries vaccination stats are looking very encouraging!

They are indeed. However Ryanair, easyJet are pushing back to June. Seems the governments re start date, traffic light system, and other bits and pieces are not enough for peace of mind for airlines or hasn’t done enough to give assurance to them. Tbh I’m with the airlines; the governments track record isn’t the best in this area.

I welcome the sight of a 3rd Ryanair based aircraft hopefully when recovery begins and progresses.

Jet2 are very good a time making the right decision early. Interesting the others are now following. It is the right call as it looks like maybe only 8 countries on the green list initially. 2 of those being Oz and NZ who are closed for international visitors. The remaining six are hardly inspiring destinations in my eyes. Another interesting summer to come!

Amazing the places that are safe in my eyes (European holiday destinations) are not on the list for no clear and justified reason. HM Government yet again not understanding the dire consequences of airlines/tour operators not having a semi decent summer will have. European countries are also ready and want our tourism.

If spain is an amber country in september which is highly likely then thats me stuffed as i cant take that much time off work as i believe it involves quarantine upon return back to the uk, have to think of my customers. Really annoying as we have a property there thats not been used in over a year plus other business to attend to over in spain, this traffic light system is going to cause absolute hell this year!! Its bad enough but who is going to take the risk of a holiday if your destination country might go from green to amber or even red! Do we have a list of which countries are green, amber and red?

The latest I've read is the government will announce which countries are in what band on May 7th to come into effect later that month although they seem to change dates with the wind.

I hope Spain is not inthe Amber band by September as we are booked for the Canaries then, what makes you think they will be as I think the EU have said 75% of the population will vaccinated by August?

Fingers crossed.

Have you looked at the vaccination numbers etc?

Just to give you context (updated 2 days ago so of course will be better today)

Current Population: 46,940,000
Population with First Jab: 13,500,000 (28%)
Population Vaccinated: 3,610,000 (7.6%)

Things are looking up and that is with data from 2 days ago. Vaccination programmes help a lot and bring down infection. As we are seeing despite the stubborn 2,5000 cases a day because of our obsession with testing healthy people. The more tests you do the higher the % of false positives you receive.

In fact if you look at daily cases - Greece, Portugal, Spain and UK all sit with cases under 10,000 with Greece like us a stubbornly 2,500 mark probably due to the unnecessary testing, Portugal around 400 whilst Spain fluctuates between 7 and 8,000 (dig a bit deeper and find it's majority of Madrid area and not the tourist areas). There is no reason that they wont' have over 50% if not more of the population vaccinated within the next 4 weeks and certainly no reason by end of June that they'll of hit the vaccination rate of over 80%. Which is very effective. I mean we haven't hit that yet and look at our reported deaths & hospitalisations. Let's have some bloody optimism please for gods sake.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the first week of September and plan a little break to Alicante.

All checked in for my flight to Sydney from Manchester via Heathrow. Been waiting for this trip for nearly a year and now tomorrow I'll finally head to Australia and New Zealand!

survived a redundancy scenario where I work for the 3rd time. Now it looks likely I will get to cover work for 2 other teams.. Pretty please for a payrise? That would be a no and so stay on the min wage.
Live in Market Bosworth and take each day as it comes......
Well it looks like I'm off to Australia and New Zealand next year! Booked with BA from Manchester via Heathrow with a stop in Singapore and returning with Air New Zealand and BA via LAX to Heathrow. Will circumnavigate the globe and be my first trans-Pacific flight. First long haul flight with BA as well and of course Air NZ.
15 years at the same company was reached the weekend before last. Not sure how they will mark the occasion apart from the compulsory payirse to minimum wage (1st rise for 2 years; i was 15% above it back then!)
